Maha govt to hold Govinda pyramid formation competition in Mumbai on Aug 31

The Maharashtra government will organise a human pyramid formation competition, the staple of the state's renowned 'Govinda' festivities, on August 31 with participating teams vying for the first prize worth Rs 11 lakh, state minister Uday Samant said on Saturday. The competition will be held at the Worli indoor stadium from morning to evening on August 31, Samant, the state industries minister, told reporters. "We are organising this competition as formation of human pyramid is now recognised as an adventure sport. We want to take this competition to international level," state sports minister Sanjay Bansode said.

Ahead of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls due this year-end, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government has appointed chairmen of three development authorities in the state. As per an order issued on Wednesday night, Rajesh Yadav has been appointed chairman of Dewas Development Authority, Pitamber Topnani as chairman of the Katni Development Authority and Dilip Shah as chairman of the Singrauli Development Authority, an official said on Thursday. Their tenure will be effective from the date of assuming charge and continue till further orders, the official added.

As Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra completes its Rajasthan leg, PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra announced on Tuesday that it will be mandatory for all in the Congress' state unit, including ministers, MLAs and officebearers, to walk 15 kilometers once a month to connect with the people.
