A total expenditure of Rs 9.12 lakh crore has been planned to augment power transmission infrastructure capacity in the country by 2032, according to Union Minister Shripad Yesso Naik. The National Electricity Plan (Transmission) covers the transmission plan till 2031-32, said Minister of State for Power Shripad Yesso Naik in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha on Monday. As per the Plan, 1,91,474 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines and 1274 Giga Volt Ampere (GVA) of transformation capacity would be added (at 220 kV and above voltage level) in the 10-year period from 2022-23 to 2031-32. In addition, he stated that 33.25 GW of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) bi-pole links are also planned. CESC Ltd on Thursday reported a 6.74 per cent fall in its consolidated profit to Rs 415 crore for the March quarter, supported by higher income. It had clocked a net profit of Rs 445 crore in the year-ago period, the power company said in an exchange filing. The company's total income rose to Rs 3,460 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 3,208 crore in January-March FY23. During the period under review, its expenses stood at Rs 3,613 crore, as against Rs 3,099 crore a year ago. For full year, the company's profit rose to Rs 1,447 crore from Rs 1,397 crore in FY 22-23, it said. The board of the company also approved the appointment of Brajesh Singh as Managing Director (Generation) and Vineet Sikka as Managing Director (Distribution) for a period of five years with effect from May 28, 2024. Power transmission company Skipper Ltd on Monday posted an over two-fold rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 20.4 crore for December quarter FY24, backed by higher income. It had clocked a net profit of Rs 9.5 crore in October-December FY23, the company said in an exchange filing. Total income surged to Rs 803.8 crore from Rs 446.0 crore a year ago. Expenses were at Rs 777.4 crore as against Rs 436.6 crore in the third quarter last fiscal. GE T&D India on Monday posted a steep rise in net profit to Rs 49.4 crore in the December quarter mainly on the back of higher revenues. The company posted an 8 per cent rise in revenue to Rs 840 crore in the quarter, the company said in a release. Profit After Tax was at Rs 49.40 crore, against Rs 4.7 crore in the Quarter Ended (QE) December 2022, the company said. Kalpataru Power Transmission on Monday posted a nearly 22 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 140 crore for the March 2023 quarter, mainly on the back of higher revenues.
