Rural development ministry aims to sanction 1 mn houses under PMAY-G in Jan

The Rural Development Ministry on Wednesday said that in January, it will focus on sanctioning 10 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMJAY-G) as part of targets set for 2024-25. An official statement said the ministry will set monthly goals to ensure the implementation of rural development schemes on time and to help realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of creating a poverty-free India. The decisions were taken at a meeting of the ministry to decide the action plan for the month. "Poverty-free villages is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pledge. Today, on the first day of new year, we have set some targets," Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in a post on X. "The schemes of the Rural Development Ministry are bringing a change in the lives of people. The effort is to ensure that all the beneficiaries get the benefits of these schemes in an effective and transparent manner as soon as possible," he said. The statement said poverty-free .

PM releases 1st installment of Rs 2,044 cr to 511K PMAY-G beneficiaries

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday virtually released the first instalment of Rs 2,044 crore to 5.11 lakh beneficiaries in Chhattisgarh for the construction of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G). The PM attended the programme titled 'Mor Awas - Mor Adhikar' (My house, my right) held at Indoor Stadium in Budha Talab area in Raipur meant to disburse the amount under the housing scheme via video link from Bhubaneswar. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, assembly speaker Raman Singh, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma, other state ministers, MLAs and officials were present at the event here. The PM transferred the first instalment of Rs 2,044 crore directly into the bank accounts of 5.11 lakh beneficiaries under the PMAY-G in the state to build their own houses, an official said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched the Odisha government's flagship women-centric programme Subhadra Yojana, and unveiled railway and national highway projects worth over Rs 3,800 crore here, marking 100 days of the third NDA regime at the Centre. Modi also released the first instalment of assistance to nearly 10 lakh beneficiaries under PMAY-G across 14 states. Cement sector sees muted growth of 2-3% in Q1FY25 due to LS polls: ICRA

The cement sector has witnessed a muted growth of 2-3 per cent in the first quarter of current fiscal on account of a slowdown in construction activity because of the Lok Sabha polls, according to a report from rating agency Icra. However, the overall volumes for the FY2024-25 are likely to expand by 7-8 per cent driven by a healthy demand from the infrastructure and housing sectors. "Nevertheless, the government's focus on infrastructure projects, sanction of additional houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), and the industrial capex is expected to meaningfully improve cement volume offtake in H2 FY2025," it said. The report also projects further consolidation in the cement industry by the top players to increase their capacity. The sector has witnessed consolidation by leading players such as Aditya Birla group firm UltraTech Cement and Adani group firm Ambuja Cements.
