Prakash Javadekar, the only minister of state with an independent charge to get elevated to the cabinet rank in the reshuffle
There were several long faces among the council of ministers at the elevation of Prakash Javadekar to the Cabinet rank. There was speculation, both within the government and the Bharatiya Janata Party, that Piyush Goyal and Dharmendra Pradhan might also get Cabinet ranks. But at the event, Javadekar stole the show. The Shiv Sena, which was initially sulking, agreed to attend the oath-taking ceremony after some cajoling, while the Congress and most other Opposition parties chose not to attend.
Javadekar was earlier stripped of the charge of two key departments of Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs as a Minister of State
Minister also informed that the final notification regarding switching over to EURO VI by 2020, will be issued soon
Javadekar was apparently referring to the Supreme Court, which has extended the ban until the next hearing which is expected in July
The minister also released a book and DVD on the life of leopards on environment day
With regard to industrial pollution, the ministry had issued directions to 150 grossly polluting industries

Javadekar stated that the government wanted to provide 'Ease of Doing Responsible Business', but pollution-related challenges would have to be addressed.
A law on civil penalties for green violations is near finalisation, which will help make implementation of green laws better, he said
He further noted that air pollution could be one of the factors behind respiratory ailments
