Members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Tuesday gathered at the historic Central Hall of the old Parliament building for a function to commemorate the rich legacy of the Parliament of India. Addressing the gathering, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said the function also commemorates the last sitting of the two Houses in the old building on Monday. The new building has now been designated as the Parliament House of India. He said the Central Hall has been witness to the transfer of power from Britain to Bharat. Joshi also said that our parliamentary journey was marked by excellent achievements, difficult challenges and remarkable milestones. At the function, Vice President and Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar sat on the dais flanked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Speaker Om Birla. Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury were seated on the extreme corners of the stage.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Wednesday accused Congress leader Sonia Gandhi of trying to politicise the functioning of Parliament and create unnecessary controversy. Joshi's response came after Gandhi wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to point out that no agenda was listed for the special Parliament session. She also proposed that nine issues, including violence in Manipur and price rise, be listed for discussion during the upcoming session. Speaking to reporters, the minister asserted that only some unparliamentary words and not 'Bharat Mata' were expunged from Gandhi's address during the no-confidence motion debate on Wednesday and accused opposition parties of creating ruckus and not letting debate on several key bills happen during the session for political reasons. Public sector coal companies have made an investment plan of Rs 2.5 lakh crore by 2030 towards "new business", Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Tuesday. The investment will be utilised to increase their capacity and usage of green energy, the Union Minister for Coal and Mines said at a session of Indian Construction and Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA) organised by industry body CII. "Coal PSUs have made a investment plan of Rs 2.5 lakh crore by 2030 in the new business like developing renewable energy (projects), clean coal technologies and new mine development projects," he said. They will also increase their respective capacities as well, Joshi said speaking to the players of construction and equipment industry. The Lok Sabha on Friday passed a bill which seeks to grant exploration licence to private sector players for critical minerals. The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2023, also empowers the central government to exclusively auction mining lease and composite licence for certain critical minerals. Union Minister for Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi moved the bill for consideration and passing in the Lok Sabha. The opposition members were protesting in the house over the Manipur issue. The amendments in the bill will be a game changer. We are going to produce 1 billion tonne of coal and make India self sufficient in the energy sector, Joshi said.
