Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday asserted his government was committed to develop Marathwada region in the state in a time-bound manner, and said projects worth Rs 29,000 crore were underway for its development. He also said the Marathwada region will play a key role in the country's development. Japan awaits Sri Lanka's debt restructuring to resume stalled projects

The visiting Japanese Finance Minister Suzuki Shunichi on Friday expressed hope that the ongoing debt restructuring in cash-strapped Sri Lanka could be finalised soon for Japan to resume its stalled projects in the island nation. Shunichi, who is on a two-day visit, met President Ranil Wickremesinghe and emphasised the value of transparent and comparable debt restructuring. The bilateral relationship was under stress for a period with Sri Lanka's unilateral cancellation of a Japanese-funded project in 2020. Techno Electric & Engineering Company gets projects worth Rs 1,750 crore

Techno Electric & Engineering Company on Friday said it bagged new orders related to smart metering and transmission projects worth Rs 1,750 crore. One of the orders worth Rs 1,041 crore is for advance metering infrastructure (AMI) from RECPDCL (REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited) for 7.27 lakh smart meters in Kashmir on DBFOOT (Design-Build Finance-Own-Operate-Transfer) basis, the company said in a regulatory filing. Besides, the company also received transmission (projects) orders worth Rs 709 crore. The transmission orders include a substation package for Neemrana-ll from Sterlite worth Rs 199 crore, a substation package for establishment of 765,400 kV, 2x1500 MVA at Sikar from PGCIL worth Rs 223 crore, and a "substation package for (i) 765/400 kV Dausa and (ii) extension of 765 kV Beawar from PGCIL" worth Rs 288 crore, the filing said.

KEC International bags new projects worth Rs 1,005 cr in India, overseas

Engineering firm KEC International on Tuesday said it has bagged new projects worth Rs 1,005 crore across its various business verticals, including railways and cables. The RPG Group company has bagged projects for transmission and distribution and cabling in the domestic market as well as in the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Americas. In the railways vertical, it has "secured an order for 25 kV overhead electrification (OHE) and associated works in the conventional segment in India," the company said in a regulatory filing. The company has secured orders for the supply of various types of cables in the domestic market and overseas. "We are particularly enthused by the order in railways, which further consolidates our order book in the conventional railway segment. Amazon to make investment of $3 mn in nature-based projects in India

E-commerce major Amazon on Monday said it will make an initial investment of USD 3 million in nature-based projects in India. The allocation is part of the company's USD 15 million fund it has allocated for nature-based projects in Asia Pacific (APAC). "The first USD 3 million from the fund's APAC allocation will support nature-based projects in India. "For its first project, Amazon will be working with the Centre for Wildlife Studies (CWS) to support communities and conservation efforts in the Western Ghats, which is home to more than 30 per cent of all of India's wildlife species, including the world's largest population of wild Asiatic elephants and tigers," the company said in a statement. Amazon will provide USD 1 million to help CWS establish the "Wild Carbon" program, which will support 10,000 farmers in planting and maintaining one million fruit-bearing, timber and medicinal trees, according to the statement. IRB Infrastructure toll revenue grows 14% to Rs 365 crore in July

IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd (IRB) on Monday said its revenue from toll collection grew by 14 per cent to Rs 365 crore in July 2023. Toll collection stood at Rs 320 crore in same month last year, IRB said in a statement. Out of the 12 tolls, the IRB MP Expressway Pvt Limited in Maharashtra contributed the major share of Rs 13.49 crore to the total revenue collection, it said. Amitabh Murarka, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited, said, "The second quarter too has started on an impressive note. The addition of Nehru ORR, Hyderabad TOT project to the portfolio will further improve the numbers. With this, we expect upward trend in toll collection to continue for remaining Q2 months and rest of FY24 as well." Railway Board accords FLS approval for 140-km-long Zubza-Imphal project

The Railway Board has accorded its approval for the final location survey (FLS) of the 140-km-long new railway line project between Zubza in Nagaland and Manipur's capital Imphal. The Zubza-Imphal project will provide direct connectivity between the two northeastern states, resulting in better railway traffic mobility, a North East Frontier Railway (NFR) release said on Friday. The direct connectivity will reduce time of travel and cost and distance of transportation of materials, giving a major socio-economic boost to the region. Infrastructural development such as new stations, road connectivity and goods yards will lead to overall economic growth of the nearby districts, the release stated. Goods movement will become seamless leading to major cost reduction for existing businesses using freight services, it said. CIL to pump in Rs 91K cr on diversification, projects by FY26: P M Prasad

Domestic coal major Coal India Ltd (CIL) will pump in Rs 91,000 crore in various projects, including diversification and mine development, by 2025-26, P M Prasad, chairman and managing director of CIL-arm Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL) said on Thursday. The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on Wednesday recommended the name of Prasad for the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Coal India. "Rs 91,000 crore will be spent on diversification and other projects put together ... These will be pumped in till 2025-26," Prasad told PTI in an interview post his selection to head the coal behemoth. He said a sum of Rs 36,000 crore will be spent on coal gasification projects while another Rs 46,000 crore will be pumped-in mining developers cum operators (MDOs) and other contracts. E-monitoring of govt projects worth over Rs 10 cr mandatory: Delhi govt

Days after Lt Governor VK Saxena directed for signing of "integrity pact" for projects worth more than Rs 10 crore, the Delhi government has made it mandatory for their monitoring through an app and tying bill payments on timely updates of progress of all such projects and work, officials said Friday. "No payment will be released if progress is not updated on the fortnightly basis for each project," stated a Finance department document. All projects worth more than Rs 10 crore will be monitored through the e-monitoring mobile app and it will be mandatory for the heads of departments concerned to ensure that all such projects are logged timely into the app," said the order issued Thursday.
