Pune sees 11% drop in property registration during Nov: Knight Frank

Registration of properties in Pune fell 11 per cent year-on-year in November to 13,371 units despite strong demand, according to Knight Frank India. In a statement on Saturday, real estate consultant Knight Frank India said Pune recorded 13,371 property registrations in November 2024, generating Rs 475 crore in revenue for the state exchequer. As many as 14,988 units were registered in November last year. Registration of properties fell 36 per cent in November compared to 20,894 units in October this year. Knight Frank India Chairman and Managing Director Shishir Baijal said, "Pune's property market continues to exhibit steady registrations, adapting to evolving buyer preferences and market conditions". Commenting on the data, Rohit Gera, Managing Director of Pune-based Gera Developments, said the registrations in November typically result from sales made in September. Rs 200 cr of homebuyer's compensation recovered from realtors: MahaRERA

The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) on Monday said it has recovered over Rs 200 crore from developers to compensate homebuyers for their losses. The authority also outlined plans to further intensify its recovery efforts. The real estate watchdog said it has issued 1,163 warrants for recovering Rs 705.62 crore across the state and has made developers cough up Rs 200.23 crore from 283 warrants involving 139 real estate projects, as per an official statement. Over Rs 378 crore of the recoveries are due from Mumbai suburban and Pune alone, the statement said, adding that specific efforts are being undertaken to expedite the same like appointing retired Tahsildars (revenue officials) in the offices of the district collectorates in Mumbai suburban and Pune. Of the Rs 200 crore in recoveries, Mumbai city contributed Rs 46.47 crore in recoveries involving 22 warrants in 13 projects, Rs 76.33 crore came from 85 warrants in 42 projects in Mumbai suburban and Rs 39.10

Bombay HC temporarily restrains Pune eatery from using 'Burger King' name

The Bombay High Court on Monday in an interim order restrained a Pune-based eatery from using the name 'Burger King' until a trademark infringement plea by the US giant Burger King Corporation is heard and disposed of. The company in August filed an appeal in the high court, challenging an order passed by a Pune court the same month dismissing its suit alleging trademark infringement against the namesake eatery. The Burger King Corporation had also filed an application in the HC, seeking an interim injunction against the Pune eatery owners -Anahita Irani and Shapoor Irani - from using the name 'Burger King' pending hearing and final disposal of its appeal. The HC in August extended the ad-interim order granted by the Pune court in January 2012 restraining the eatery from using the name 'Burger King'. Adani Energy Solutions to acquire 100% stake in Pune- III Transmission

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) on Wednesday said it has signed a pact with PFC Consulting Ltd for acquisition of a project special purpose vehicle - Pune- III Transmission Ltd. The Pune- III Transmission Limited (PTL) projects include the establishment of new 2x1500 MVA, 765/400 kV and 3x500 MVA, 400/220 kV Pune-III substations and setting up of 816 ckm transmission line, according to a regulatory filing. AESL has "executed a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) with PFC Consulting Limited for acquiring 100 per cent equity shares of Pune- III Transmission Limited," the filing said. Under this pact, PTL will aim to implement evacuation of 7 GW of renewable energy from Khavda RE Park (Gujarat), under the Phase IV Part D package. The acquisition is proposed to further AESL's strategy of enhancing value for its shareholders through organic and inorganic opportunities. On acquisition cost, AESL said the equity shares will be acquired at a face value of Rs 10 each.

Five labourers killed, 5 injured as water tank collapses in Pune, 1 booked

Five labourers were killed and five others suffered injuries after a makeshift water tank collapsed at a labour camp in Maharashtra's Pune district on Thursday morning, police said. The incident took place in Bhosari area of Pimpri Chinchwad township when some labourers were taking bath under the water tank at around 6:15am, they said. "It seems a wall of the tank exploded due to the water pressure, leading to its collapse. The labourers who were below the water tank got trapped under the debris," Pimpri Chinchwad Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi said. "Three of them died on the spot while two others succumbed to injuries in a hospital. Five others sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment," another official said. SC grants interim bail to former chairman of Pune Cooperative bank

The Supreme Court on Monday granted interim bail on medical grounds to former chairman of a Pune-based cooperative bank in a case linked to alleged fraud and misappropriation of funds of the lender worth Rs 429 crore. A bench of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra gave relief to Amar Sadhuram Mulchandani, the ex-chairman of the Seva Vikas Cooperative Bank, after taking note of his medical condition. Siddique murder case: 'Co-conspirator' held from Pune; 3rd arrest so far

The Mumbai police have arrested a 28-year-old man from Pune who along with his brother enlisted two of the three alleged shooters in the Baba Siddique murder case, an official said on Sunday. Police called the man, Pravin Lonkar, a co-conspirator and said they are on the lookout for his brother Shubham Lonkar. This is the third arrest in the case. According to the crime branch official, Pravin and Shubham enlisted two alleged shooters, a UP resident and Shivkumar Gautam. Pune hit-and-run: Food delivery man killed after Audi hits two-wheeler

A food delivery man was killed after an Audi car driven by an allegedly drunk senior executive of a private firm hit his two-wheeler in Pune in the early hours of Friday, police said. The luxury car's driver Ayush Tayal (34) fled from the spot after the accident near Tadigutta in the city's Mundhwa area and was arrested later with the help off CCTV footage, an official said.
