Cinema exhibitor PVR INOX on Wednesday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 12.8 crore in the third quarter of the current fiscal. The company, earlier known as PVR Ltd, posted a net profit of Rs 165 crore in the October-December period a year ago, according to a regulatory filing. Its revenue from operations stood at Rs 1,545.9 crore in the second quarter of the current fiscal. In the year-ago period, the same was at Rs 940 crore. The December quarter results came after the merger of rival Inox into PVR, hence it is not comparable, the company said. "Consolidated financial results for the quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2023 are not comparable to those reported for quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2022 due to the amalgamation of PVR INOX Limited (formerly known as PVR) with INOX Leisure Ltd with effect from January 1, 2023," it said. Leading multiplex chain PVR INOX on Monday said the live broadcast of the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in its theatres had over 70 per cent occupancy. The new Ram Lalla idol was consecrated at the Ayodhya temple on Monday, an event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The live broadcast in cinemas was conducted in association with Aaj Tak. Multiplex Association of India (MAI) on Thursday announced that the National Cinema Day will be held on October 13 this year. Movie enthusiasts will be charged only Rs 99 per admission at cinema halls across the country, the national multiplex trade body said in a press release. Over 4,000 screens at multiplexes from India, including PVR INOX, Cinepolis, Miraj, and Delite, have teamed up to participate in the National Cinema Day celebrations, it stated. "This special occasion brings audiences of all ages together for a day of cinematic bliss, celebrating the incredible success of multiple films at the box office this year. "It's a heartfelt 'thank you' to all the moviegoers who contributed to this success and an open invitation to those who haven't yet returned to their local cinema," the association said.
