The Manipur Public Works Department said that Rs 2,395.51 crore was sanctioned for different road and bridge projects in the hill areas of the state from 2020-21 to 2024-25. In a press statement the Chief Engineer Manipur Public Works Department on Wednesday said the money was sanctioned during the period under various schemes. It said Rs 537.61 crore was sanctioned for 12 road and bridge projects in hill areas of the state in 2020-21. In 2021-22 a sum of Rs 244.72 crore was sanctioned for 27 projects, in 2022-23 a sum of Rs 708.27 was sanctioned for 130 road and bridge projects in the hill areas of Manipur, it said. The statement said 153 road and bridge projects worth Rs 673.88 crore was sanctioned in 2023-24 and 31 projects worth Rs 231.07 was sanctioned in 2024-25 for hill areas of the state. PWD minister Atishi has approved projects to strengthen and upgrade roads in west Delhi, an official statement said on Sunday. These roads include Rohtak Road's (NH-10) service lanes from Metro pillar 109 to 273, Road No. 41, 77 and road from Paschim Puri Chowk to New Slum Quarters in Multan Nagar, it said. The Public Works Department (PWD) has taken disciplinary action against six contractors for not completing projects on time, an official said on Sunday. A contractor, who was awarded the work of repairing roads in northeast Delhi has been debarred from tendering in Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for six months from the date of issue of order since he "had failed to complete the work", the official said. Similarly, another contractor firm has been debarred from tendering in CPWD for six months for not completing the work on the deteriorated portion of a road on Uttar Pradesh Link Road. Another contractor, who was awarded five contracts including the construction of the boundary wall of the new Rao Tula Ram Flyover, in 2021 was debarred from tendering for nine months. A Delhi government project to upgrade 1,400 km of roads is picking up pace with the PWD set to hire a consultant to frame bid documents for the mega infrastructure push, officials said Friday. The Delhi Public Works Department has already floated a tender to hire the consultant, who will hired for four months. The tender requires the consultant to be empanelled with the National Highways Authority of India or any central or state government ministries or departments. The consultant should have also carried out similar consultancy services or transaction advisory services for infrastructure project including highways, water supply, urban infrastructure projects costing at least Rs 500 crore on Public-Private-Partnership or Engineering-Procurement-and-Construction or Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), according to official documents.
