Court to decide maintainability of Chadha's plea on bungalow allotment

A Delhi court is likely to decide on July 10 the maintainability of an application filed by AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha against an order cancelling the allotment of a bungalow to him. Chadha has challenged a letter dated March 3, 2023, whereby the accommodation allotted to him by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat was cancelled. In response, the counsel appearing for the secretariat objected to the maintainability of the application before the court. Additional District Judge Sudhanshu Kaushik on June 1, after hearing arguments on the issue of maintainability from both sides, fixed the matter for July 10 for order. The court had in April directed the secretariat not to dispossess Chadha from the bungalow till the pendency of the application without due process of law. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha and actor Parineeti Chopra will get engaged on May 13, a party source said. AAP leader Raghav Chadha on Tuesday said media reports that claimed he has been named as an accused in a charge sheet filed by the ED in a Delhi Excise policy-linked case were "factually wrong" and appear to be part of a "propaganda" to harm his reputation and credibility. In a supplementary charge sheet filed in a money-laundering case linked to the excise policy, the ED has accused the AAP of using a part of the Rs 100 crore kickbacks allegedly received from the 'south group' liquor lobby to meet its expenditure for the Goa Assembly poll campaign in 2022. The charge sheet carried the name of Chadha, a Rajya Sabha MP, as part of a statement of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's Secretary C Arvind. He was not named as an accused in it.
