The Congress MP said even issues have become blurred in the polls this time and the people want to oust the BJP. "They (BJP) have not permitted any leader to be developed and this is a pan-India problem," the Congress general secretary, who is also a former Haryana minister, told PTI. "They are killing established leadership of the BJP. What they have done in Rajasthan, got reflected in the Lok Sabha results, that people don't accept novices," he said. Dwelling on his party's prospects in the state, Surjewala asserted that the "Congress is on course to sweep the elections...we are repeating or even bettering our 2005 performance". Sirsa MP Kumari Selja will campaign for the Congress and address a public meeting in Narwana this week, party general secretary Randeep Surjewala said on Monday after the BJP targeted the grand old party over alleged infighting amid reports that she was sulking. The 61-year-old Selja is a Congress general secretary and prominent Dalit face of the party. The Election Commission on Tuesday reprimanded Congress leader Randeep Surjewala over his alleged derogatory remarks against BJP MP Hema Malini and barred him from campaigning for 48 hours. This is the first campaign ban imposed by the poll body in this Lok Sabha election cycle. The Election Commission had last Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to Surjewala for his alleged "undignified, uncivilised and vulgar" remarks against Malini. In his reply to the show-cause notice, the Congress general secretary had maintained that the video cited by the BJP was "doctored". The EC rejected his claim and said the district returning officer of Kaithal had noted that the Congress leader had made the remarks on March 31 at Faral village under the Pundri assembly segment and the entire speech was videographed by the video surveillance team. The poll watchdog told him that it was convinced that he had made the said statement and thus violated provisions of the model code of conduct. "The commis

The Allahabad High Court has stayed any coercive action against Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala till the disposal of his application before a Varanasi court to provide him with legible documents pertaining to a 23-year-old case of damage to public property. Justice Raj Beer Singh passed the order in a petition filed by Surjewala seeking legible and readable documents along with the charge sheet filed in the trial. He had challenged the order of the trial court rejecting his plea for the same. The trial court maintained that legible copies of the charge sheet along with all documents forming part of it had been supplied to the Congress leader.
