Change of guard ceremony held in a new format: Rashtrapati Bhavan

The change of guard ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan will now be held in a new format, featuring an elaborate visual and musical performance against the backdrop of the presidential palace, an official statement said on Sunday. The new format includes military drills by troops and horses of the President's Bodyguard, along with personnel from the Ceremonial Guard Battalion and the Ceremonial Military Brass Band. Rashtrapati Bhavan closed for visitors from Jan 21-29 for R-Day parade

The Rashtrapati Bhavan (Circuit-1) will remain closed for the general public from January 21 to 29 due to the upcoming Republic Day Parade and Beating Retreat ceremony, according to an official statement issued on Thursday. Circuit 1 takes the visitors on a tour of the main building of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, showing them the forecourt and premier rooms of the Bhavan and long drawing room among others. The change of guard Ceremony will also not take place on January 11, 18 and 25 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan due to rehearsal for the Republic Day parade, said the statement issued by the president's office. The change of guard ceremony, held in the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, is a military tradition. It is held every week to enable a fresh group of the President's Bodyguards to take charge.

The Government of India and the Indian society have always valued and appreciated the contribution of the Indian community in enhancing India's position, prestige and standing abroad, President Droupadi Murmu said here in the Algerian capital. Murmu reached here on Sunday evening on the first leg of her three-nation visit making it the first-ever visit by an Indian Head of State to deepen India-Africa ties. President Murmu is slated to meet Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Monday. A stone abacus, sound pipe and music wall are among the key attractions in the famed Amrit Udyan inside the Rashtrapati Bhavan, which will open for public viewing from Friday. Visitors to Amrit Udyan will also be given "seed papers" -- a unique and eco-friendly memento -- infused with seeds of Tulsi plant, a senior official said on Tuesday. President Murmu will inaugurate Amrit Udyan on Wednesday and the garden will remain open for public viewing from Friday till September 15th, from 10 am to 6 pm. The last entry will be at 5.15 pm. Selected gifts presented to President, ex-presidents to be auctioned

The Rashtrapati Bhavan through a web portal will auction selected gifts presented to the President and former presidents on different occasions, an official statement issued on Friday said. In the first phase, around 250 exquisite gifts will be auctioned, it said. "The aim of this initiative is not only to increase citizen engagement but also to support noble cause. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to help children in need," the statement issued by the President's office said. The bidding will be open from August 5 to August 26. After the conclusion of the bidding period, the items will be delivered to the highest bidders. "Rashtrapati Bhavan will auction selected gift items, presented to the President and former Presidents on various occasions, through an online portal called E-Upahaar," it said.
