Swach Bharat Abhiyan had profound impact on temples: RSS chief Bhagwat

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan' for having a profound impact on temples and their cleanliness quotient. Speaking at the inauguration of the three-day International Temples Convention and Expo (ITCX) 2023 here, he asserted that cleanliness is an extremely critical aspect of temple management as places of worship are also a "symbol of purity". A huge and extremely critical aspect of temple management is cleanliness because temples are a symbol of purity. Definitely, with the prime minister's Swacch Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India), there has been a great effect on temples as well. However, with the International Temple Convention, we seek to achieve this on a deeper level in every temple in the world -- small or big," Bhagwat said. "We need to pass on the legacy of temple service to the next generation for which education and awareness on temple ecosystems is important. In view of the same, we need to solidify every aspec

RSS body welcomes parl panel's suggestion to keep tribals out of UCC

The RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram on Sunday welcomed the suggestion of a parliamentary committee chairman Sushil Modi to keep tribals out of the purview of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC). In a statement, the organisation also asked the Law Commission not to submit its report in haste, urging it to first understand the customary practices and traditions of the tribal communities from their prominent members and organisations. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) body urged the members of the scheduled tribes and their organisations to submit their views to the Law Commission if they have any concerns with regard to the proposed UCC, instead of being "misled" by discussions on the social media on the issue. BJP MP Sushil Modi, chairman of a parliamentary panel on Law, recently advocated keeping tribals, including those in the Northeast, out of the purview of any likely UCC at a meeting while some opposition members questioned the Law Commission's timing of the move

RSS body ABVKA calls for restoration of peace in violence-hit Manipur

The Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, an RSS-affiliated body, on Wednesday called for restoration of peace in violence-hit Manipur and appealed to eminent people from different walks of life to come forward to soothe tempers. In a statement, ABVKA president Ram Chandra Kharadi said the central government is not able to restore peace in the state as the mutual trust between the Kukis and the Meiteis, who have been living together for thousands of years, have "broken into pieces". "This violence which is continuing for the last one-and-a-half months has not only claimed hundreds of lives, but also thousands of people from both the communities have had their houses burnt, forced to live in relief camps like refugees in their own state," he said. "The loss is not only of life and property but of mutual trust. The mutual trust of the two communities which have been living together for thousands of years has broken into pieces. India becoming powerful nation: RSS General Secy Dattatreya Hosabale

India is becoming a powerful nation and all forces opposed to it are trying to stop its progress, RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale has said. Addressing a programme here on Saturday, he said there is a need to acquaint the new generation with the history, culture and heritage of the country so that they take inspiration from these and contribute to the country's progress. "India is developing into a powerful nation and to stop its march, forces opposed to it are coming forward," the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader said. No matter how rich a nation is in natural resources, no matter how grand its ancient history is, if a person living in that society does not have dedication to serve, then it cannot progress, he added.

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekar on Friday hit out at the Congress government in Karnataka over reports about it removing a lesson on RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar from school textbooks, saying the party's views on history are limited to the Nehru-Gandhi family. The senior BJP leader termed the reported move as Congress antics to grab attention, and alleged that it has a long history of rewriting the country's history to remove those who are not part of a "dynasty". On Thursday, Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa had said revision of school textbooks will be done this year itself in the interest of students. Bangarappa, while talking to reporters in Bengaluru, had also indicated that the proposal on the textbook revision will be placed before the Cabinet probably when it meets next. Basavaraj Bommai dares Congress govt to ban RSS, Bajrang Dal in Karnataka

Senior BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai on Friday challenged the Congress government in Karnataka to impose a ban on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bajrang Dal. Alleging that the Congress was pursuing 'politics of vengeance', he said those who ever tried to ban RSS were sent home packing. Bommai was reacting to Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge's purported statement that the government will not hesitate to ban RSS and Bajrang Dal if they disturb peace in the state. Keeping aside all its promises, the Congress has started pursuing the politics of vengeance. It appears that politics of vengeance is more on the agenda than the development of the state, the former CM told reporters here. They are talking about banning RSS and Bajrang Dal. Whom are they telling this? Please try it. I am challenging them. They don't have powers to ban any organisation. It's the prerogative of the Centre, which does it after seeking the opinion of all the states, Bommai pointed out. On the one hand, the Cong

Ashok Gehlot has 'RSS phobia', says BJP's Rajasthan chief Joshi

Rajasthan BJP president CP Joshi hit back at Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for calling the BJP and the RSS "fascist", saying the Congress leader has an "RSS phobia" and that is why he makes such statements. He said whenever there is any calamity, RSS workers are ready to help. "The Congress has a phobia of the RSS, so its leaders keep making baseless allegations against the RSS," he said in a statement on Thursday. "Sangh workers always play their role in society with devotion like a soldier without any discrimination while the Congress is nothing more than a scattered organisation dedicated to one family," he said. Honouring terrorists and cursing patriots is the reason for the Congress' downfall, he said. Joshi said the chief minister should introspect because his party MLAs accuse him of being a "fascist". "He calls himself Gandhi of Mewar but his entire five years were spent in the fight for the chair. He is afraid of his defeat in the 2023 elections, therefore Gehlot is saying
