Telangana CM orders release of financial aid for farmers under Rythu Bandhu

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday directed officials to start the process of disbursing financial aid to farmers under the 'Rythu Bandhu' scheme. At a meeting with ministers and officials, Reddy held in-depth discussions on the functioning and performance of the Department of Agriculture and its allied wings, and the implementation of welfare programmes for farmers, an official release said. Reddy directed officials to start depositing financial aid under the 'Rythu Bandhu' scheme in farmers' accounts from Monday itself. He said the aid should be provided without inconveniencing any farmer, according to the release. He also asked the officials to prepare an action plan to implement the ruling Congress' pre-poll promise of waiving farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh. Andhra govt sells tomatoes at Rs 50/kg through Rythu Bazars as price rises

The Andhra Pradesh government on Saturday said its agriculture marketing department is selling tomatoes at Rs 50 per kg at 103 Rythu Bazars located across the state to provide relief to consumers. "In response to the soaring prices of tomatoes, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has taken proactive steps to make this essential vegetable accessible and affordable for its citizens," the state government said in a statement. With prices reaching an alarming price of Rs 100 per kg, the Agricultural Marketing Department has initiated the sale of tomatoes at Rs 50 per kg in 103 Rythu Bazars across the state. Telangana govt to release Rs 7,600 cr for Rythu Bandhu' scheme from Dec 28

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday directed State Finance Minister T Harish Rao to start releasing the crop investment - Rythu Bandhu funds for the yasangi harvest (rabi) season from December 28. An official release from the CMO said the Rythu Bandhu funds, starting from one acre as usual, would be credited to the accounts of all farmers by Sankranthi and for this, the State government would deposit Rs 7,600 crore in their bank accounts. Through the scheme, the government provides crop investment to the farmers at the rate of Rs 10,000 per acre for both Vanakalam ( Kharif)and Yasangi seasons. The scheme, considered as a revolutionary activity in the country's agriculture sector, is delivering optimum results, it said. Along with free irrigation, free electricity, and farmer insurance, a revolutionary development has taken place in agriculture in the State by providing direct investment in the farmer's account to take up farming activity, the release further .
