Vivad Se Vishwas scheme to settle disputes in contracts begin from July 15

The Finance Ministry on Monday said the scheme to settle pending disputes related to government contracts under the Vivad Se Vishwas II will commence on July 15 and contractors will have time till October 31 to submit their claims. The Vivad se Vishwas II (Contractual Disputes) scheme was announced in 2023-24 Budget for settlement of pending disputes related to government contracts. Under the scheme, contractors would be offered settlement amounts depending on the status of a dispute. As per the scheme announced by the Department of Expenditure, in cases of disputes where court or arbitral order has been passed, the settlement amount would be 85 per cent or 65 per cent of the amount awarded by the court or the arbitral tribunal respectively. In the draft scheme, the Expenditure Department had proposed that the settlement amount would be 80 per cent in case of court orders and 60 per cent in case of arbitral awards. Andhra Pradesh CM disburses Rs 659 crore under YSR EBC Nestham scheme

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday disbursed Rs 659 crore under the second tranche of YSR EBC Nestham, benefiting 4.3 lakh needy women. At a function held at Markapuram in Prakasam district, the Chief Minister gave away the assistance to women belonging to Reddy, Kamma, Aryavaishya, Brahmin, Kshatriya, Velama and other upper castes. The money would be directly credited into the bank accounts of beneficiaries aged between 45 and 60 years, aimed at enabling them set up businesses to attain economic empowerment. ESIC-run social security scheme adds 1.5 mn new members in June: Data

Around 15.47 lakh new members joined the ESIC-run social security scheme in June 2022, according to official data released on Thursday. The latest data is part of a report -- Payroll Reporting in India: An Employment Perspective - June 2022 -- released by the National Statistical Office (NSO). It showed that the gross new enrolments with Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) rose to 1.49 crore in 2021-22, from 1.15 crore in 2020-21. It was 1.51 crore in 2019-20 and 1.49 crore in 2018-19. From September 2017 to March 2018, around 83.35 lakh new subscribers joined the ESIC scheme. The report said gross new enrolments with ESIC from September 2017 to June 2022 were 6.92 crore. The NSO report is based on the payroll data of new subscribers of various social security schemes run by ESIC, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).
