The Net Apprenticeship Outlook (NAO) metric could see a 75 per cent jump in the second half of the fiscal year, as per a report. According to the Teamlease Degree Apprenticeship's 2023 Outlook Report, the NAO increased to 56 per cent and 66 per cent in the same period in the past two years, respectively. It is now projected to rise 75 per cent in the October-March period. A Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of nearly 30 per cent showcases that organisations view apprenticeships as a talent development strategy that drives skill enhancement and workforce development, the report said. ASAP Kerala, the state-run skill development agency under the Higher Education Department, has forged astrategic partnership with dSPACE, a global leader in mechatronics system software technology based in Germany, to provide jobs for skilled youth in the state. The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday granted regular bail to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in the Skill Development Corporation scam case. The court converted Naidu's four-week interim medical bail into absolute bail and ordered the former chief minister's release on regular bail. "The interim bail granted to A37 (Naidu) dated October 31 is made absolute, and the petitioner (Naidu) is ordered to be released on regular bail on the bail bond already furnished by him," the court said in its order. However, the interim bail conditions such as refraining from making any public comments related to the Skill Development Corporation scam case or organising or participating in public rallies and meetings will continue to be in force till November 28. The Centre has set a target of providing training to six lakh traditional artisans and craftspeople under the PM Vishwakarma scheme this fiscal, Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) Secretary Atul Kumar Tiwari said here on Monday. The MSDE is optimistic about meeting the target as over 11 lakh applications have already been received for the scheme and the three-stage process for screening applicants and beneficiaries is underway, according to officials. PM Vishwakarma, a central scheme, was launched on September 17 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide end-to-end support to artisans and craftspeople. As many as 16.2 million workers need to be upskilled and reskilled in Artificial Intelligence and automation to meet India's skill deficit, says a report. According to the study conducted by Pearson and commissioned by ServiceNow, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will transform employment landscape, augment digital skill sets and create millions of new tech jobs. "AI and automation will require 16.2 million workers in India to reskill and upskill while also creating 4.7 million new tech jobs," the report said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 511 rural skill development centres in the name of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan in Maharashtra on Thursday via video conferencing. The PMO said in a statement that these centres are being established across 34 rural districts of Maharashtra. They will conduct skill development training programs across various sectors to provide employment opportunities to the rural youth, it said. "Each centre will train about 100 youngsters in at least two vocational courses. The training is being provided by empanelled industry partners and agencies under National Skill Development Council," the statement added. They will help the region make significant strides towards developing a more competent and skilled manpower, it said. Mahajan was a leading national leader of the BJP and died at the age of 56.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Tuesday a plea of TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu challenging the Andhra Pradesh High Court order dismissing his petition for quashing the FIR against him in connection with an alleged scam in the Skill Development Corporation. A bench of justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi will take up the plea for hearing on October 3. On September 27, the top court had said it would not restrain the trial court from dealing with a plea seeking police custody of Naidu as it announced that a new bench will hear his petition for quashing the FIR in the alleged Rs 371 crore scam in the state. The plea by Naidu, who was arrested in the case on September 9, had come up before two benches in the top court but without any effective hearing. Magic Bus India Foundation, a non-profit organisation that provides education and skilling, on Monday said it has partnered with Madhya Pradesh government to introduce project 'Saksham' -- a life skills education programme -- in government schools. The Department of Tribal Affairs of Madhya Pradesh has partnered with Magic Bus India Foundation to empower master trainers and government school teachers, equipping them to deliver life skills education while nurturing the well-rounded development of adolescents across 20 districts and 89 blocks in the state, the non-profit organisation said in a statement. A court here on Friday extended the judicial remand of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in the case pertaining to AP Skill Development Corporation scam till September 24. Additional Advocate General Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy told PTI that the special court for Anti-Corruption Bureau here extended the former Chief Minister's remand by two days. Meanwhile, the High Court has scheduled the hearing on the FIR quash petition filed by Naidu at 1:30 pm today. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested on September 9, for allegedly misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation, leading to an alleged loss of over Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer. He is currently lodged in the Rajamahendravaram central prison.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, who has been remanded to 14 days in judicial custody for his alleged role in a multi-crore Skill Development Corporation scam, has filed two bail petitions, interim and regular, in a local court. In the interim bail petition, Naidu denied all the allegations levelled against him and claimed that there was no prima facie evidence on record against him. "We have filed two petitions, one is for interim bail and another for regular bail. However, the hearing may not be done today (Friday)," advocate G Subba Rao, a member of Naidu's legal team, told PTI. Rao said the Crime Investigation Department is yet to file a counter to their bail pleas. Hence, he noted that the hearing may not come up on Friday.
