Kavach has been deployed in three sections in South Central Zone: Vaishnaw

Kavach, an indigenously developed automatic train protection system, has been deployed in three sections in South Central Railway zone along with 139 locomotives, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Vaishnaw responded to questions raised by two Congress MPs from Kerala - Benny Behanan and Kumbakudi Sudhakaran - on the total number of sections and length under various railway zones that are covered by Kavach. "Kavach has so far been deployed on 1,465 route km and 139 locomotives (including Electric Multiple Unit rakes) on South Central Railway...," Vaishnaw said in a written response. These sections are Lingamapalli-Vikarabad-Wadi and Vikarabad-Bidar section (265 Rkm); Manmad-Mudkhed-Dhone-Guntkal section (959 Rkm) and Bidar-Parbhani section (241Rkm). SCR registers highest gross originating revenue of nearly Rs 19,000 cr

: The South Central Railway (SCR) Zone has earned a Gross Originating Revenue of Rs 18,973.14 crore during the fiscal 2022-23, which is the highest originating revenue earned by the Zone since its inception, a senior official said on Monday. "Backed by proactive planning and dedicated efforts by Team SCR on all segments of its operation, the Zone achieved its best-ever earnings in 2022-23 by recording Rs 18,973.14 crore in Originating Revenue compared to its best-ever earning of Rs 15,708.88 crore in 2018-19," SCR General Manager Arun Kumar Jain told reporters here. In 2021-22, the Zone earned Rs. 14,266 crore. The Zone took proactive initiatives to address the needs of the freight customers with initiatives like development of the goods shed, implementation of both tariff and non-tariff incentive measures and so on, which resulted in new traffic being attracted towards Railways, he said. Another 90-km stretch doubled, electrified in South Central Railway zone

The South Central Railway (SCR) zone has completed the doubling and electrification works of 90-km stretch between Gooty and Dharmavaram at a cost of Rs 636 crore, resulting in decongesting and enhancing the connectivity to South Indian states. Following the doubling and electrification of railway tracks between Chigicherla and Dharmavaram section, the zone achieved this milestone. "The GootyDharmavaram doubling project is a vital rail link in Andhra Pradesh state and acts as a gateway to South India states. This line serves as one of the important routes connecting both the Telugu states with Bengaluru and beyond," an official was quoted as saying in a press note late on Thursday. The project was executed by Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) and was totally funded by the Railways.
