His father Mohammed Saleem said that Arfath last spoke to him on March 7. Since then, he has not been in touch with his family and his mobile phone is switched off. The Psychological counselling Centre, set up in September this year in the New Medical College Hospital in Kota in compliance with the state government's budget announcement, has no clinical psychologist. There is only one clinical psychologist appointed at the NMCH against the demand of at least five, and it lacks an adequate number of trained staff. A majority of Indian undergraduates want their course curriculum to include training in artificial intelligence (AI) tools relevant to their future careers, the Global Student Survey 2023 of students from across 15 countries has found. As many as 83 per cent of Indian students surveyed for the Chegg.Org annual analysis released here this week wanted to incorporate AI in their learning, the second highest of all countries after Kenya at 84 per cent. In addition, 46 per cent of these Indian students also felt their degree would be more useful in an AI-assisted workplace, the third highest of all countries after Kenya (53 per cent) and Saudi Arabia (48 per cent). The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has suspected fraud and corruption in the implementation of the post-matric scholarship (PMS) scheme under direct benefit transfer (DBT) in Odisha. In its report on the performance audit of the implementation of DBT in payment of PMS to eligible students in the state, which was laid before the state assembly on Tuesday, the CAG said, "Due to the absence of detailed checklist for inspection of private educational institutions, 5,185 beneficiaries of 15 ineligible institutions, had been granted PMS, amounting to Rs 15.79 crore, during financial years 2016-17 to 2016-20." The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, in its revised guidelines issued in May 2018, made it mandatory for the inspection of private educational institutions by officials nominated by the district collectors. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday said the report to the UGC by Jadavpur University, where a student died recently after allegedly being ragged and sexually harassed, was "not satisfactory". He asserted that the TMC government in West Bengal "cannot evade responsibility" for the incident. The University Grants Commission had made certain suggestions on the anti-ragging system, the minister said, adding that these include the installation of CCTV cameras, a separate cell to deal with ragging cases, and a communication facility among others. "The University Grants Commission has sought a response from the university on what steps it has taken to implement these suggestions.
