Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) on Thursday said it has partnered with Bank of Baroda to facilitate financing of residential rooftop solar projects under the PM - Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Both the entities have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), under which applicants can avail loan amounts up to Rs 6 lakh at an interest rate starting at 7 per cent per annum with both fixed and floating rate options, TPREL said in a statement. Tata Projects on Tuesday said that the construction of the US-based chip company Micron Technology's semiconductor assembly and test facility at Sanand near Ahmedabad will be over by December 2025. While 60 per cent of work on India's first semiconductor plant has already been completed, the rest will be finished by the end of this year, said Amit Agrawal, Project Director, Tata Projects. The facility is coming up in nearly 50 acres of area at Sanand industrial area and the construction began in July last year. This semiconductor Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP) facility is being constructed by Tata Projects for Micron. "An ATMP facility is essentially a backend fab facility where testing, packaging and marking of semiconductors are carried out. This is perhaps the largest back-end semiconductor fab unit in the world. Siam Cement BigBloc Construction, a subsidiary and JV of BigBloc Construction Ltd, has bagged an order from Tata Project to supply material to Micron's semiconductor unit in Sanand, Gujarat, a statement said. The work order from Tata Projects Ltd is for the supply and installation of AAC panels at the semiconductor unit of Micron India in Sanand, BigBloc Construction said in the statement. The order for 100 mm AAC panels, to be completed in three months, is valued at around Rs 4.5 crore. The subsidiary will supply and install steel-reinforced AAC panels, ranging from 2 metres to 6 metres in the project, the statement added. Siam Cement BigBloc Construction is a joint venture between Gujarat-based BigBloc Construction and Thailand's SCG International Corporation Co Ltd. The JV has bagged its first big order after commencing operations at the Rs 65-crore AAC wall plant in Kheda, Gujarat. The 'Self-Regenerating Breather' is a device protecting a transformer from moisture ingress and thus, increases the longevity of electric transformers, the company said in a statement. According to the statement, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (Tata Power-DDL), a leading power utility supplying electricity to over 2 million customers in North Delhi, has been granted the patent for its unique self-regenerating transformer breather for a term of 20 years. The patented technology is also expected to reduce the maintenance man-days for replacement of Silica gel in a transformer's breather to protect it from moisture damage, the statement said. EPC firm Tata Projects on Thursday reported a profit after tax of Rs 120.57 crore for the quarter ended March 31 on the back of higher revenues. The company's revenue from operations increased to Rs 5,412.80 crore during the March quarter, over Rs 5,015.21 crore in the year-ago period, the statement said. Two big semiconductor proposals are under process and expected to take shape in the coming few months, Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Saturday. Without divulging specifics of the proposals, the minister said the projects will focus on a special area where India can emerge as a leader at the global level. While speaking with PTI on the sidelines of the groundbreaking ceremony of Micron's semiconductor plant, Vaishnaw said that the global semiconductor company is noticing the progress made by India in the segment and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's capability to execute large and complex policy decisions. "This has developed India as a major trusted geography in which global industry players want to come. We can see in the coming few months at least two more large semiconductor proposals taking shape," Vaishnaw said.
