PSC question paper leaks 'state-sponsored', alleges Tejashwi Yadav

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has charged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with "maintaining silence" over alleged irregularities in a PSC examination, claiming that recent question paper "leaks" in such competitive tests were "state-sponsored". In a video statement late on Friday, the leader of the opposition in the assembly also accused Kumar of failing to communicate with job aspirants who staged protests over the alleged paper leak in the 70th Integrated Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024, conducted by Bihar Public Service Commission. Kumar's "reluctance to communicate with students who were baton-charged by the police and slapped by Patna district magistrate" showed that the JD(U) supremo is a "tired man and unable to govern Bihar", Tejashwi claimed. "This government has failed in conducting any examination in the state without paper leaks ...whether it is for class 10th, 12th, police constable recruitment exams or BPSC tests, questions papers are leaked before the ...

Tejashwi promises raise in social security pension if gets power in Bihar

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday promised a more than three-fold rise in the amount paid to beneficiaries of social security schemes in Bihar, if the coalition headed by his party came to power in the state. The former Bihar deputy chief minister said the amount paid to senior citizens, widows and people with disabilities would be increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1,500 per month. "If we form the government after the assembly polls due next year, people over 60 years of age or with disabilities as also widows will get Rs 1,500 per month by way of the social security schemes in place," said Yadav, who is currently the leader of the opposition in the state assembly. The RJD leader, whose party is a partner in the ruling coalition in adjoining Jharkhand, where social security schemes played a role in helping JMM leader Hemant Soren's return to power, asserted, "we deliver on our promises whenever we get a chance", even as he termed as "meagre" the Rs 400 per month currently paid in ...

INDIA bloc leaders, including Rahul may attend Hemant Soren's oath-taking

Top leaders of the INDIA bloc, including Congress's Rahul Gandhi and RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, may attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Hemant Soren government here on November 28, a senior leader of the grand old party said on Monday. In a stunning comeback, Hemant Soren's JMM-led alliance on Saturday stormed to power in Jharkhand for a second consecutive term, winning 56 seats in the 81-member assembly, despite an all-out blitz by the BJP-led NDA, which managed only 24 seats. Soren retained Barhait seat by defeating BJP's Gamliyel Hembrom by a margin of 39,791 votes. "All top leaders of the INDIA bloc are being invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony at Morabadi Ground here on November 28. Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav are likely to attend the event," the Congress leader told PTI. Tejashwi may skip winter session out of shame post bypoll result: JD(U)

JD(U) spokesman and MLC Neeraj Kumar on Sunday took a dig at Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in the Bihar assembly, claiming that the RJD leader may give the winter session a slip out of "political shame". Kumar's comments in a video message came a day after the NDA, of which the party is a crucial partner, swept by-elections to four assembly seats in the state, retaining Imamganj and wresting from the INDIA bloc Tarari, Ramgarh and Belaganj. The RJD lost two seats, thereby getting deprived of the "single-largest party" status in the 243-strong assembly that Yadav and his colleagues prided themselves on. Kumar also recalled Yadav's absence during the monsoon session, asserting that the latter had played truant because of "raajneetik lajja (political shame)" resulting from the Lok Sabha polls. The NDA, which won back Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the JD(U) supremo, earlier this year, bagged 30 out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The RJD, which is INDIA bloc's larges

What is rationale behind holding meeting when DGP, CS not present: Tejashwi

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday questioned the rationale behind holding the Home department review meeting by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, in which the Director General of Police and Chief Secretary "were not present". Yadav, former deputy chief minister, who is currently the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly, also said the "absence of aforesaid officials showed how serious" the CM was with regard to law and order. He also alleged that the NDA government was patronising criminals in the state. Yadav in a post on X on Sunday wrote, "What is the rationale behind holding such a review meeting in which DGP, CS and ADG were not present? The absence of top officials shows how serious the CM is about the law and order situation in the state. The NDA government is playing with the lives of Biharis by patronising criminals." "Holding of a high-level review meeting by the CM was mere a formality. It's a fact that after every review meeting of Nitish ji, crime increases further

Nitish aide slams Tejashwi's yatra plan aimed at highlighting NDA's failure

A key aide of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar slammed Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, who has decided to embark on a state-wide tour to highlight alleged failures of the NDA government. Senior JD (U) leader and state minister Ashok Choudhary on Saturday came out with a statement attacking Yadav, a day after the RJD leader announced his plans to undertake the yatra from August 15. "In his press conference, Yadav had questioned the Nitish Kumar government's commitment to restore hiked reservations for deprived castes and alleged that despite being a part of the ruling alliance at the Centre, our party failed to secure special status for Bihar. He had also claimed that crime graph was soaring in the state," said Choudhary, who went on to debunk the charges. The rural works minister, who, incidentally, is a Dalit, trained his guns at the RJD leader over his party's "failure" to give reservations to SCs and STs in panchayats "for the 15-year period during which it ruled ...

Tejashwi criticizes govt on NEET, says 'arrest me if you have evidence'

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday criticised the Nitish Kumar government for attempting to blame him for the NEET paper leak scam, challenging the ruling NDA to "arrest" him if they had evidence. Yadav made these remarks at an event marking 28 years of the formation of his party, led by his father Lalu Prasad, in Bihar. He accused the government of promoting corruption and crime, stating, "This government claims to be a double engine. One engine drives corruption, and the other promotes crime." "Every issue in the state, whether it's a paper leak, bridge collapse, or murders, is being pinned on Tejashwi. If the government has any evidence against me, they should arrest me instead of making allegations," the 34-year-old leader asserted. Notably, leaders from Nitish Kumar's JD(U) and BJP alliance have emphasised that a key suspect in the paper leak case had close ties with a staff member of Yadav. In response, RJD has countered by releasing photographs showing other key suspects w

LS polls: INDIA bloc to form next govt, NDA to be voted out, says Tejashwi

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday asserted that the INDIA bloc, of which his party was a part, would form the next government at the Centre and that the ruling BJP-led NDA was on its way out. The former Bihar Deputy CM, who spearheaded the Lok Sabha polls campaign of the opposition coalition in the state, was talking to reporters here after casting his vote. "The INDIA coalition will form the government after results are out on June 4. The NDA will be voted out", claimed the 34-year-old leader, whose exertions have left him with an injured spine, causing him to move around in a wheelchair. The RJD seemed to share ally Congress' skepticism over exit polls, when asked about the latter's decision not to take part in TV debates on the post-poll surveys. "You tell me who are the people conducting these exit polls and which one of these should we take seriously? The fact is, we have been on the ground, among people, and we have a first-hand sense of the public mood", asserted Yadav.

BJP will get 'befitting reply', says Tejashwi on Hemant Soren's arrest

People of Jharkhand will give "befitting reply" to BJP over the "injustice committed" to ex-CM Hemant Soren, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav claimed on Sunday. Speaking to reporters after arriving in Ranchi to take part in the INDIA bloc's 'Ulgulan Nyay' rally, he said the opposition coalition's objective was to root out the BJP to save the country and the Constitution. "People of Jharkhand will give a befitting reply to the BJP over the injustice committed to former CM Hemant Soren. Our objective is to root out the BJP to save the country, democracy and the constitution," he said. Maintaining that parties of the INDIA bloc were united, Yadav said, "The film of 400 seats has become a flop in the very first phase of Lok Sabha elections." Besides Yadav, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita and Hemant Soren's spouse Kalpana are expected to address the rally, in a mega show of strength for the opposition bloc. The RJD, the largest constituent of Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, on Saturday released its election manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls, promising 1 crore government jobs and Rs 1 lakh per year to "sisters" from poor families on Raksha Bandhan. Former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav, while releasing the RJD's election manifesto 'Parivartan Patra', said the party is making 24 "jan vachan" (public promises) for the 2024 polls, and it will fulfill these commitments. "If the INDIA bloc comes to power at the Centre, the RJD will ensure that unemployed youth across the country get 1 crore government jobs... the process will start on Independence Day this year... it will be like 'berozgaari se azadi' (freedom from unemployment)," he told reporters. "Unemployment is our biggest enemy but the BJP leaders never talk about it. They had promised 2 crore jobs... but we deliver on our promises," he said.
