Three Lok Sabha MPs in BJP's list of 52 candidates for Telangana polls

Three Lok Sabha MPs, including its former Telangana president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, figured on Sunday in the BJP's first list of 52 candidates for the November 30 state assembly polls. The BJP has also given ticket to its firebrand Hindutva leader T Raja Singh from his Goshamahal seat after revoking his suspension, effected last year for alleged insulting remarks towards Prophet Mohammad. Its election committee head Etela Rajender has been fielded from Huzurabad, a seat the former BRS leader represents in the outgoing assembly. Kumar has been fielded from Karimnagar and two other MPs, Soyam Bapu Rao and Dharmapuri Arvind, from Boath and Koratla. The BJP has four Lok Sabha MPs from the state. Union minister and its state president G Kishan Reddy is another MP whose name is not in the first list. The BJP is trying hard to emerge as the main challenger to the ruling BRS with the Congress also putting up a strong fight.

Telangana least corrupt state, BRS targets 95-100 seats in polls: K Kavitha

Exuding confidence that BRS will come back to power, MLC K Kavitha said her party has set a target of winning between 95 and 100 seats in November 30 assembly polls in Telangana. In an exclusive interview with PTI, she also said Telangana, according to the Central government survey, is the least corrupt state in the country. Kavitha, refuting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks that BRS is the B-Team of the BJP, sought to know why the saffron party was suddenly "silent" on cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate on several leaders of the grand old party, including Rahul's mother Sonia Gandhi. "Absolutely confident (of coming back to power), 100 per cent confident. Because the people of Telangana are always with us and we are always with them. We've practically done many things which never ever any state in this country had even dreamt about. "Anywhere between 95 and 100 seats is our target. We will certainly land very close to that number. We are coming back to power," she ..

Rahul Gandhi promises caste census in Telangana, if Cong is voted to power

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday promised to conduct the caste census in Telangana if his party is voted to power in the state. Addressing corner meetings on the way from Bhupalpally to Peddapalli during the Congress' ongoing 'Vijayabheri' Yatra in the state, where Assembly elections will be held on November 30, he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of not speaking on the issue. Rahul Gandhi said the biggest issue in the country is with regard to caste census and termed it an "X-ray" that will throw light on the condition of Dalits, tribals and OBCs, and added it will also determine how the country's funds are being distributed. He asked the people to question Modi and KCR as to when they will conduct the caste census, and said if the Congress is voted to power in Telangana then the first work his party's government will do is to take up "X-ray" in the state. KCR briefs candidates ahead of polls, asks them to reach out to grassroots

Telangana Chief Minister and BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday asked the party candidates to reach out to cadres during their poll campaign for the assembly elections to be held on November 30. Addressing the contesting candidates before handing over the B Forms, KCR said that except five or six, all sitting MLAs have been given tickets to contest the assembly polls. B-Forms is proof that a particular candidate is put up by a political party in the election. K Chandrasekhar Rao is popularly known as KCR. In August, KCR announced the candidates for 115 out of the total 119 assembly seats. "Except five or six sitting MLAs, all were given tickets to contest the polls. I am happy about that. There will be several opportunities for those who did not get MLA tickets," the BRS president said. Rao asked the candidates to utilise the services of legal experts and auditors while filling the nomination papers.

KCR to release BRS manifesto for Telangana polls, to launch campaign

BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will announce the party's manifesto and launch his campaign for the November 30 Assembly polls on Sunday. Rao will hold a meeting with the BRS MLA candidates at the party headquarters here and hand over the B-Forms (the form is proof that a particular candidate is put up by a political party in the election) to them, BRS sources said. He will explain the rules to be followed in the election and would give suggestions to the candidates, after which the BRS party manifesto will be released. State Health and Finance Minister T Harish Rao, a nephew of KCR, had earlier said the BRS manifesto would shock the opposition parties in the state. Against the backdrop of Congress announcing six poll 'guarantees' to people, it is expected that the BRS manifesto would include measures to benefit the farmers, women, those receiving social security pensions and youth. Later in the evening, KCR will address a public meeting at Husnabad
