The Telangana government on Monday stepped up relief measures following heavy rains in the state which led to the death of at least nine people and inundation of low-lying areas. The affected people were shifted to relief camps at some places in the state. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will conduct a meeting with officials on the rain relief measures. People in several places in the state were grappling with the situation though there had been some let up in the rains on Monday morning. The flood victims at Khammam, as Munneru rivulet was in spate, said their belongings were washed away and that drinking water was not available to them. Some local residents provided them with food on Sunday, they said. They alleged that they had got no relief from the officials. Twenty-six National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are being deployed for flood relief and rescue operations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, officials said Monday. While 12 teams are already deployed in the two neighbouring states, 14 more are being dispatched, they said. Out of the 14 teams, eight are being airlifted from various locations across the country, the officials said. The NDRF teams are equipped with inflatables boats, pole and tree cutters and basic medical aid tools, they said. Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi has been elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Telangana in a bypoll. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Senior Vice President G Niranjan received the certificate of election on behalf of Singhvi from the returning officer here. BRS leader K Kavitha, who was arrested in March this year, walked out of Tihar Jail here late Tuesday evening, hours after the Supreme Court granted her bail in corruption and money laundering cases linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. BRS workers and supporters who had gathered outside the jail to welcome her played drums and burst crackers as she stepped out of the prison complex. The US health regulator has pulled up Aurobindo Pharma's subsidiary Eugia for manufacturing lapses at its Telangana-based plant. In a warning letter to Eugia Pharma Specialities CEO Yugandhar Puvvala, the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) pointed out that the company failed to ensure the accuracy of data for production and process simulation. "Your firm failed to ensure that laboratory records included complete data derived from all tests necessary to ensure compliance with established specifications and standards," USFDA stated. The US health regulator said it inspected the Patancheru (Mandal), Sangareddy, Hyderabad-based plant from January 22 to February 2, 2024. "You failed to ensure the accuracy of data in records for both production and process simulations (media fills)," USFDA noted.
