TDP to regain past glory in T'gana soon, party restructure on cards: Naidu

Thanking the people for protesting against his arrest in September last year, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday said the Telugu Desam Party will soon regain its past glory in Telangana also. Addressing TDP workers here, Naidu said the party was born in Telangana (four decades ago) and soon it will be restructured. TDP did not contest the Assembly polls in November 2023 and the Lok Sabha polls this year in Telangana for a variety of reasons. Despite KCR's efforts, BRS at receiving end with desertion of MLAs, MLCs

After its defeat in the Legislative Assembly elections last year, the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi is now faced with the defection of its MLAs and MLCs to the ruling Congress in Telangana. Till date, seven MLAs and six MLCs of BRS switched over to the Congress since the Assembly polls. Several other leaders, including BRS Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao, his daughter and Hyderabad Mayor Vijaya Laxmi R Gadwal, also joined the Congress. Keshav Rao has, however, quit his post after joining Congress. Andhra, Telangana CMs to meet to discuss pending inter-state issues

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his Telangana counterpart A Revanth Reddy will meet here on Saturday to resolve pending issues related to bifurcation of undivided Andhra. The meeting will take place at the government's Mahatma Jyoti Rao Phule Praja Bhavan here this evening. Telangana came into existence on June 2, 2014, following the division of undivided Andhra Pradesh. BRS suffers major setback as six party MLCs join Congress in Telangana

In a major setback to the opposition BRS in Telangana, six party MLCs joined the ruling Congress late on Thursday night in the presence of state Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Bharat Rashtra Samithi continues to suffer from desertions, with several leaders, including six MLAs, leaving the party after its defeat in the Assembly polls last year. The six MLCs who switched over to the Congress are: Dande Vithal, Bhanu Prasad Rao, M S Prabhakar, Boggarapu Dayanand, Yegge Mallesham and Baswaraju Saraiah, Congress sources said. T'gana HC dismisses KCR's plea against probe in power sector irregularities

In a setback to former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Telangana High Court on Monday dismissed a writ petition filed by him seeking declaring the constitution of a Commission of Inquiry to go into alleged irregularities in the power sector during the previous BRS rule as illegal. A bench comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Anil Kumar Jukanti dismissed the petition filed by Rao. Weavers resort to 'suicide' in Telangana amid debt trap, no livelihood

The 'recent' suicide' of a weaver at Sircilla in Telangana has brought to the fore the alleged lack of work and adequate income in this textile hub, with the issue leading to a war of words between the opposition BRS and the Congress. Kudikyala Nagaraju recently died by suicide as he was unable to repay his debts and this came as a reminder of the tragedy of weavers ending their lives in the past. While it is being claimed 10 weavers have ended their life so far this year, the government has pegged the number at six, even as the BRS attacked the ruling Congress over the matter. Nagaraju (47), a weaver, took his life by consuming acid at Sircilla recently. "My husband borrowed some amount and failed to repay the lenders. He did not have the livelihood to take care of me and our two sons," Nagaraju's wife Lavanya told PTI. The Enforcement Directorate on Friday filed a fresh and the ninth charge sheet in the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case naming a person called Vinod Chauhan as an accused, official sources said. Chauhan was arrested by the federal agency in May as part of this investigation. The sources said a fresh and the ninth prosecution complaint (charge sheet) was filed before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court here naming Vinod Chauhan. All measures in place to implement new criminal laws in T'gana: Official

Telangana has put in place all necessary measures to implement the three new criminal laws -- Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam --, which are to come into force from July 1, a senior official said. The official also said the translation process of these new legislations is also at the advanced stage and is expected to be completed before July 1. Notification drafts are ready, and they will be notified in the next couple of days for smooth implementation of the new laws, he said. Centre asks Telangana govt to auction at least six mineral blocks by Jun 30

The mines ministry has flagged that the Telangana government failed to auction any mineral blocks in past nine years and asked the state to put at least six mines on sale by the end of this month. According to sources, geological reports of eleven blocks have been handed over to the government of Telangana for auction. These blocks consist of five iron ore mines, five limestone blocks and one manganese block. Till date not even a single block has been put up for auction by Telangana even though the mines ministry has sent repeated reminders to the state government. The process of allocating mineral blocks through auctions began in 2015. In a recent letter to the Telangana government, the mines ministry asked the state to notify a minimum of six blocks from the 11 for auction by June 30, sources said.
