Leading financial services company Wells Fargo on Thursday said it has broadened its talent attraction strategy by launching the Transgender Persons Hiring Program in India, a move that will increase diverse representation across levels. Building on the programme's initial pilot with its 2022 cohort of 13 individuals hired in its technology function, the company aims to train and attract additional talent across multiple lines of business in 2024. Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) added 16.47 lakh new members in April as per payroll data released on Wednesday. "Through the data, it is noticeable that more jobs have been generated for the youth of the nation as out of the total 16.47 lakh employees added during the month, 7.84 lakh employees amounting to around 47.60 per cent of the total registrations belong to the age group of up to 25 years," a labour ministry statement said. According to the statement the provisional payroll data of ESIC reveals that 16.47 lakh new employees have been added in April 2024. Also, it stated that the gender-wise analysis of the payroll data indicates that net enrolment of female members was 3.38 lakh in April. Besides, 53 transgender employees also got registered under the ESI Scheme in the April, attesting to ESIC's commitment to deliver its benefits to every section of society. Around 18,490 new establishments have been brought under the social security ambit of the ESI Scheme

The Kerala government has launched a new scheme to provide employment opportunities to the transgender community in diverse and innovative sectors. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said the Pride project is being implemented with the objective of ensuring the participation of the marginalised group in the knowledge employment sector. The state-run Knowledge Economy Mission and the Social Justice Department are jointly implementing the programme, he said in a Facebook post. The project is also part of the government's initiative to provide employment to 20 lakh people by 2026, he explained. The Chief Minister said the LDF government is committed to ensuring all kinds of civil and human rights and providing support to the TG community. The project would help them resolve their unemployment issues and address the invisibility crisis they were facing in the society through better job opportunities, he added.
