The annual World Happiness Report considers factors such as social support, income, health, freedom, generosity, and absence of corruption to create a global ranking of happiness around the globe
India was ranked even below Pakistan, Nepal, China, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. In Asia, India is only better off than Afghanistan that was placed at 137th position
Lebanon was the world's second saddest country, with Botswana, Rwanda and Zimbabwe rounding out the bottom five
Denmark kept its second place, Iceland bypassed Switzerland to take third place and the Netherlands rounded out the top five
The World Happiness Report uses data from interviews of more than 350,000 people in 95 countries, conducted by Gallup
Finland has taken the top spot for the fourth year as the happiest country in the world despite the global pandemic's devastating effects according to the UN-curated World Happiness Report 2021
The report was released by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations on March 20 which has was declared as World Happiness Day by the UN General Assembly in 2012
