Ramkrishna Forgings Ltd on Monday said it has received an order of Rs 270 crore from a consortium led by BHEL to supply bogie frames of Vande Bharat train sets. The scope of the project involves the development and validation of the bogie frames for the sleeper version of the Vande Bharat train sets, Ramkrishna Forgings Ltd (RKFL) said in a statement. This order encompasses 32 train sets, each comprising 16 coaches and RKFL will be producing a total of 1,024 bogie frames, it said. The order valued at Rs 270 crore is to be supplied to the BHEL TRSL consortium, the statement said. The Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala in Punjab is aiming to roll out the first prototype of Vande Metro coach for intercity travel ?by April this year, its general manager S Srinivas has said. A total of 16 such coaches are expected to be ready by the later part of 2024-25 financial year, he said. Vande Metro, which is designed on the concept of India's first indigenous semi-high-speed train Vande Bharat, will cater to intercity passengers covering up to a distance of 250 km. A Vande Metro train will have 16 air-conditioned coaches and can run at a maximum speed of 130 km per hour. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the inaugural run of the Jalna-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express through video link on Saturday, the Central Railway has said. The CR said in a release on Friday that the PM will virtually flag off the 8-coach service while addressing a function at the redeveloped Ayodhya Dham railway station in Uttar Pradesh. He will also flag off two Amrit Bharat and five other Vande Bharat services between different cities.
