Vedanta Aluminium inks pact with Gail for natural gas supply at Odisha unit

Vedanta Aluminium on Wednesday said it has entered into a pact with state-owned gas utility GAIL (India) Ltd for supply of natural gas to its smelter at Jharsuguda in Odisha. The country's leading aluminium producer has entered into gas sales agreement with GAIL Gas Ltd, a subsidiary of GAIL (India) Ltd. This transition to natural gas, likely to be operational by the end of next year, will lower the carbon footprint, reduce emissions by an estimated 47,292 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually, Vedanta Aluminium said in a statement. Vedanta is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050, by implementing a dual strategy that includes increasing renewable energy usage while also creating carbon sinks through afforestation efforts, it said. Vedanta Aluminium digitally connects metal quality analysis system with LME

Vedanta Aluminium on Thursday said it has digitally linked its metal quality analysis system with the London Metal Exchange (LME) -- the global hub for trading industrial metals and setting benchmark prices. The move aims to streamline operations throughout the entire metal supply chain, from production to delivery, the company said in a statement. "This makes Vedanta Aluminium the first smelter in India to digitally link its metal quality analysis system with it and the fifth primary aluminium producer globally to establish a direct digital connection for Certificates of Analysis submission from its smelters to the LME Passport platform," it said. Vedanta Aluminum set to achieve 30% women employee ratio by FY25: CEO

Vedanta Aluminium has said it is on course to achieve the goal of having 30 per cent women employees among its workforce by the end of next financial year, much ahead of the timeline of 2030 set by the company. The total headcount of Vedanta Aluminum is over 25,000 of which 22 per cent employees are women, according to the company's CEO John Slaven. "The company is on track to achieve a ratio of 30 per cent women employees on its rolls by the end of FY25. Notably, the milestone is set to arrive five years sooner than the company's stated target of 2030, with women professionals already comprising 22 per cent of the total number of employees," Slaven told PTI. Vedanta dispatches 1st supply of low-carbon aluminium in domestic market

Vedanta Aluminium on Wednesday said that it has dispatched its first supply of low-carbon aluminium to a company based in Telangana. As part of the order, the company will supply 300 metric tonnes of Restora Billets to Global Aluminium. "Vedanta Aluminium has dispatched its first domestic supply of Restora, the nation's first-ever low-carbon 'green' aluminium, to Global Aluminium Pvt Ltd, a leading aluminium extrusion company based in Telangana," the company said in a statement. Manufactured using renewable energy, Restora is produced with a greenhouse gas emission intensity within four tonnes of CO2 equivalent per tonne of aluminium manufactured, which is the global threshold for aluminium to be considered as having a low carbon footprint. Vedanta Aluminium signs pact with Dalmia cement to supply industrial wastes

Vedanta Aluminium on Tuesday said it has entered into a long-term pact with Dalmia Cement for supply of industrial wastes such as fly ash and spent pot lining for manufacturing low carbon cement. Under the pact, Vedanta's mega aluminium smelter at Jharsuguda, Odisha will supply around 20 rakes of fly ash every month for five years to Dalmia Cement's manufacturing units in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, and Assam, and spent pot lining (SPL) for three years to the company's plant at Rajgangpur, Odisha. Vedanta's aluminium output rises 2% to 584,000 tonnes in second qtr of FY23

Vedanta Ltd on Monday said that its aluminium production increased by 2 per cent to 5,84,000 tonnes in the second quarter of the ongoing fiscal. The company's aluminium production in the corresponding quarter of FY22 stood at 5,70,000 tonnes, Vedanta Ltd said in a filing to BSE. The mined metal output at Zinc India during the July-September quarter also went up by 3 per cent to 2,55,000 tonnes over 2,48,000 tonnes in the same period of the previous fiscal. "First half mined metal production at 507,000 tonnes was higher by 8 per cent YoY, on account of increase in ore production, further supported by better grades and improved operational efficiency," the filing said. The production of finished steel also went up by 11 per cent to 3,25,000 tonnes, from 2,93,000 tonnes in the year-ago quarter. Vedanta aluminium output rises by 3% to 565,000 tonnes in Apr-Jun

Mining giant Vedanta Ltd on Monday reported a 3 per cent increase in its aluminium production to 5,65,000 tonnes in the April-June quarter of the ongoing fiscal. The company had produced 5,49,000 tonnes of aluminium in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, Vedanta Ltd said in a filing to BSE. Mined metal production at Zinc India increased by 14 per cent to 2,52,000 tonnes due to higher ore production across all the mines and supported by better mill recovery. The production of saleable iron ore in Karnataka in the first quarter declined by 14 per cent to 1.26 million tonnes over 1.46 MT on account of heavy rainfall which impacted ore handling. The company's total production of saleable steel declined by 7 per cent to 2,69,000 tonnes over 2,89,000 tonnes in the year-ago period. Vedanta Aluminium says will source 380 MW green power for smelters

Vedanta Aluminium on Monday announced it will source 380 MW of green power on a long-term basis for its smelters. Once online, this project has the potential to reduce the company's greenhouse gas emissions by 15,00,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually. This will be carried out through a power delivery agreement between Vedanta Ltd and Special Purpose Vehicles affiliates of Sterlite Power Technologies Pvt Ltd (SPTPL).
