Gujarat reports six new Covid-19 cases taking the tally to 13 so far

Six new coronavirus positive cases were reported in Gujarat on Saturday, which took the tally of such patients to 13 in the state, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said here. Twelve of these patients have history of travel abroad, while one person in Surat had visited Delhi and Jaipur recently, he said. "Four of these cases were reported in Ahmedabad city, one in Ahmedabad rural, three each in Surat and Vadodara, and one each in Rajkot and Gandhinagar," Rupani said. Appealing to the people to stay indoors and follow the guidelines related to social distancing and cleanliness, he said the state government was prepared to tackle the "worst- possible" situation. Rupani was talking to reporters after visiting Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. He also announced that the 1,200-bed super specialty new block of the hospital will be kept exclusively for the treatment of coronavirus patients. Patidars, OBCs find equal representation in Gujarat CM's cabinet

Having formed the government again with 99 seats after a closely fought elections, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday struck a balance between Patidar and other backward class (OBC) representation in its newly formed cabinet of ministers.Administered by Gujarat governor O P Kohli, Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani's team of 19 ministers including deputy chief minister Nitin Patel and other eight cabinet ministers took oath of office and secrecy at the state secretariat in Gandhinagar. The rest 10 took oath as ministers of state (MoS).However, the government has struck a balance by inducting six ministers each from Patidar and OBC community, followed by three scheduled tribe (ST), one Dalit and four from general category including two Kshatriyas, one Brahmin and one Jain.
