PM Modi to issue over 5.8 million SVAMITVA property cards in virtual event

Over 58 lakh property cards providing 'Record of Rights' will be issued for owners in over 50,000 villages across 12 states and union territories on Friday at a virtual event which will be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, officials of Panchayati Raj Ministry said on Wednesday. At least 13 union ministers will meanwhile address events in different states where the property cards will be distributed, officials said. SVAMITVA Scheme, which was launched in 2020, aims at providing a "Record of Rights" to every property owner in the Village Abadi area. Officials from the Panchayati Raj Ministry said the virtual event, which will be addressed by the Prime Minister, property cards will be issued to 58 lakh property owners in approximately 50,000 villages across 10 states - Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and two Union Territories- Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh. Bulldozer action in UP: FIR against 30 villagers for thrashing officials

A case has been registered against 30 residents of Ukhra village here in connection with an alleged attack on two revenue officials, police said on Tuesday. On Saturday, a team of district administration razed several structures built on government land using bulldozers. When some BJP leaders reached the village on Monday and were talking to the people in presence of police, some of the villagers became violent and attacked Lekhpals (revenue officers) Rudra Pratap Singh and Saurabh Pandey. 5th phase of 'Back to Village' programme to start across J-K on Nov 7

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary A K Mehta chaired a meeting Sunday to review the preparations for the fifth phase of the 'Back to Village' (B2V) programme which is scheduled to start in the Union Territory from November 7, officials said. Between 2019 and 2022, the Jammu and Kashmir administration held four phases of the B2V programme an initiative to take the administration to people's doorsteps across 4,483 panchayats to address genuine development-related and other needs of the public. An official spokesperson said that during the 10-day programme, officers would visit their assigned panchayat areas and undertake a review of previous and current year deliverables. 75% villages have been declared ODF Plus, says Jal Shakti minister

About 4.4 lakh or 75 per cent of India's villages have achieved the open defecation free-plus status, Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said on Saturday. An 'ODF Plus' village is one which has sustained its Open Defecation Free (ODF) status along with implementing either solid or liquid waste management systems. Addressing media persons, Shekhawat said over 4.43 lakh villages so far have declared themselves ODF Plus, which is a significant step towards achieving the goals of the second phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin by 2024-25. He added that all villages in 14 states and Union Territories (UT) have achieved ODF Plus Status, of which four have been declared 'ODF Plus Model'. Delhi Village Development Board sanctions 167 schemes worth Rs 115 cr

The Delhi Village Development Board on Monday sanctioned 167 schemes to develop roads, drainage systems, community facilities, green spaces, and sports infrastructure in rural areas, according to an official statement. A total of Rs 115.52 crore will be spent on works to be undertaken under these schemes, it said. Delhi minister Gopal Rai, who chairs the board, also issued strict directions to ensure timely completion of all village-centric projects. Pertinent issues surrounding pending and prospective development proposals were also deliberated upon, the statement said. Under the schemes, ponds and water bodies will be augmented to improve water resources. Also, the board plans to create recreational areas, crematoriums, sports grounds, gymnasiums, and libraries within the villages to bolster community infrastructure.

Patil announces Panchayat Development Index to measure village development

A 'Panchayat Development Index' has been formulated by the Centre to evaluate different indicators responsible for ensuring targeted development in villages, Minister of State for Panchayati Raj, Kapil Moreshwar Patil said on Wednesday. The Index will be a compact statistical tool to measure and monitor development at panchayat level. On a pilot basis, data from four districts in Maharashtra -- Pune, Sangli, Satara and Solapur -- was compiled. Patil along with Panchayati Raj secretary Sunil Kumar and other government officials launched a report of the Panchayat Development Index Committee which will provide a way forward with Localisation of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs). Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday directed officials to soon start the 'Matrubhumi Yojana' which aims at facilitating individuals or private institutions to contribute to the development of villages. At a review meeting here, he said a large number of people have associated themselves with this scheme and have expressed their desire to get buildings, roads and community centres built in their villages in the name of their ancestors. Govt targeting khadi, village industries for job creation in rural areas

The government is targeting khadi and village industries to boost job creation in the rural and tribal areas and improve purchasing power of people, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said. "Our focus is on village industries including honey, kulhads, bamboo, fishing, bio-fuels towards employment generation in the agriculture, rural and tribal sectors and to enhance their purchasing power through favourable policies," Gadkari told PTI. The minister for MSME and Road Transport & Highways shared that a special emphasis is being accorded to 115 aspirant districts across the country to achieve these objectives. Gadkari said he foresees a huge demand for honey going forward, with growing health awareness among the masses and an untapped potential market for products like honey sachets, biscuits and chocolates, which can be leveraged to generate employment. The khadi, village and coir industries come under the MSME ministry helmed by Gadkari.
