Monsoon covers whole Bihar, many places receive good rainfall

Several cities and towns in different parts of Bihar on Saturday received good rainfall as the monsoon covered the entire state, Met officials said. The monsoon which hit Bihar's north east districts on Friday, covered the entire state on Saturday, the Patna Meteorological Centre said. Several cities and towns in different parts of the state received a good rainfall bringing down the temperature below normal maximum temperature. Patna, like other cities, which have been facing the heatwave since the beginning of June this year, on Saturday witnessed a pleasant weather because of the first spell of good rainfall since the morning. Patna received 33.0 mm of rainfall during the day between 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, bringing down maximum temperature down to 32.4 degrees Celsius which is three notches below normal, Met official said. Jammu records 41.4 deg C; Srinagar remains pleasant at 28.7 degrees

The winter capital Jammu Saturday recorded a maximum temperature of 41.4 degrees Celsius, an increase of almost three notches compared to the previous day. The night temperature in the city, however, marked a slight dip and settled at 24.7 degrees Celsius against the previous night's 25 degrees Celsius, a spokesman of the meteorological department said. After witnessing heat wave early this month, the day temperature in Jammu fell to 35.6 degrees Celsius following overcast conditions and showers on Monday and hovered around the season's average of 38 degrees Celsius till Friday. The city had recorded the season's high of 44.4 degrees Celsius (maximum) on June 10 and 31.2 degrees Celsius (minimum) on June 12. Katra, the base camp for Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district, continued to be the second hottest place in the state. Parts of UP receive showers, more expected on Sunday

Parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh were lashed by rain on Saturday bringing some respite from the searing heat, officials said. While the showers were light to moderate in most parts, a few isolated places received heavy rain as well. Hata recorded the maximum rainfall at 13 cm, Bhatpurwaghat 11 cm, Deoria 6 cm, Ghazipur, Saleempur and Bara recorded 5 cm each, Patti 4 cm, Ballia 3 cm and Maharajganj, Eliginbridge and Gorakhpur received 2 cm of rainfall each, the met office said. Aligarh recorded the state's highest maximum temperature at 41.6 degree Celsius, three degree above normal. The Met department has forecast more rain at isolated places over eastern part of the state on Sunday.

Maximum temperatures hover above average in Haryana, Punjab

The maximum temperatures rose slightly and hovered above normal limits in Haryana and Punjab on Saturday, the Met office said. Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a maximum of 41.2 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal limits, a Meteorological Department report said. In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 41.5 degrees Celsius, up four notches against normal while Hisar recorded a maximum of 40.5 degrees Celsius. Karnal's maximum temperature settled at 40 degrees Celsius while Narnaul recorded a high of 41 degrees Celsius. Bhiwani, too, experienced a hot day at 41.3 degrees Celsius. Amritsar in Punjab recorded a maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal limits. The maximum temperature in Ludhiana settled at 39 degrees Celsius, two degrees above the average while Patiala recorded a maximum temperature of 40.3 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal limits.

Moderate to heavy rains likely in MP

Moderate to heavy rains are likely to occur in Madhya Pradesh in the next 24 hours, weatherman said Saturday. The state witnessed pre-monsoon showers in the last 24 hours in Shahdol, Indore, Ujjain, Rewa, Bhopal, Hoshangabad and Jabalpur divisions, an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said. He said places like Kotma, Jethari and Amarkantak in Anuppur district and Bagli in Dewas district each received 7 cm rainfall in the past 24 hours. Moderate to heavy showers are likely in Anuppur, Dindori, Jabalpur, Katni, Sidhi, Singrauli and Shadol districts in the next 24-hours. Meanwhile, maximum temperatures have gone up in areas under Chambal and Hoshangabad divisions, he said. The highest temperature in the state was recorded at 42 degree Celsius in Hoshangabad, and at 38.5 degree Celsius in Bhopal.

Goa to witness heavy rainfall: IMD

Heavy to very heavy rains are expected to occur in isolated regions in Goa, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday."Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over north Goa and south Goa district of the state," IMD said in a warning released today.IMD has released a warning for fishermen of Goa coast to not venture into the Southwest and adjoining West-central Sea."Rough sea conditions are likely to prevail over Southwest and adjoining West-central Arabian Sea during 22nd, 25th and 26th June," IMD said.IMD has predicted cloudy sky with a few spells of rain or thundershowers for the next few days, in Goa.Areas in south interior Karnataka and Konkan may witness heavy rainfall on Saturday, the weather forecasting stated in its countrywide weather warning Bulletin.Besides, in the North-eastern part places over Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Telangana, Marathwada, Chhattisgarh and Odisha are also likely to receive rain showers.

Rain lashes parts of Patna, Bihar

As the southwest monsoon further advances, parts of Patna are drenched in rains on Saturday.The weather conditions that were forecasted by the Indian Meteorological (IMD), Patna centre predicted that the city is likely to see thunderstorm with lightning today and tomorrow and receive heavy rain for two days from June 24.On Friday, IMD stated that favourable conditions to be seen in the Deccan plateau and some parts of mid-north-central and eastern regions as a result of the approaching southwest monsoon. The regions mentioned by the IMD also included Bihar."Conditions are becoming favourable as the further advance of Southwest Monsoon into remaining parts of Central Arabian sea," added the IMD bulletin.Nonetheless, southwest monsoon paved the way in Kolkata, New Delhi and some parts of Bihar as well, reported Skymet on Thursday.The advancement of monsoon has taken place in view of the formation of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal.

Monsoon brings down temperature in Goa

The south-west monsoon, which arrived in Goa two days back, has brought down the temperature in the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday. It predicted light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers at most place in the state over the next five days. After the arrival of monsoon on Thursday, there has been amarked fallin the maximum temperature, it said. "The highest maximum temperature of28 degrees Celsius was recorded atPanjim (North Goa) and Mormugao (South Goa). But there wasno large change in minimum temperature and itwas normalover North and South Goa districts," the IMD said. "The lowest minimum temperature of24 degrees Celsius was recorded at Panaji and Mormugao," it added. The department predicted that light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely to occur at most place in the state over the next five days. Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in North and South Goa districts, it said.

Humid Saturday morning in Delhi, mercury many touch 40 deg C

It was a humid Saturday morning in the national capital with the minimum temperature settling at 29.2 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal for this time of the year. According to the MeT department, the humidity level recorded at 8.30 am was 72 per cent. The weatherman has predicted sunny day ahead. "The skies may turn partly cloudy towards the evening and the maximum temperature is expected to settle at 40 degrees Celsius," an official said. On Friday, the maximum temperature recorded was 38.8 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled at 25.4 degree Celsius.

Heavy rains predicted in most parts of Maha from Saturday

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Friday predicted heavy rains in most parts of Maharashtra from Saturday, which is likely to continue till Monday. In a forecast issued here, the IMD said there would be widespread rainfall activity on Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. There could be slight variations in the intensity, but there would be good spells of showers, it added. However, Vidarbha region would get scattered rainfall in some pockets over the next four days, the department said. Favorable weather conditions to approach as Southwest Monsoon advances into remaining parts of Central Arabian Sea, predicted Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.The Deccan plateau and some parts of mid-north-central and eastern regions are to get favourable conditions. 'Light to moderate rainfall likely in TN,Pondy in next 2 days'

: The Met Department Friday said favourable atmospheric conditions are likely to bring light to moderate rainfall in isolated places in Tamil Nadu and the union territory of Puducherry in the next two days. The maximum temperatures on Friday hovered close to the normal limits in Haryana and Punjab, a MeT department official said. In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 38.4 degrees Celsius, Karnal settled at 38 degrees, Hisar recorded 37.5 degrees and Narnaul's maximum temperature settled at 36 degrees, he said. Rains lashes several parts of Rajasthan

There was some respite from searing heat as several parts of Rajasthan were lashed by rain ranging from two to eight cm in the last 24 hours, a MeT official said on Friday. The highest rainfall of eight cm was recorded by Dag of Jhalawar followed by six cm in Shergarh of Jodhpur, five cm in Pokaran of Jaisalmer and four cm each in Srimadhopur, Masuda, Phalodi, Rohat and Jodhpur tehsil, the official said. Various other places in the state recorded two to three cm rainfall during the period. Though, no rainfall was recorded in major cities of the state on Friday, he added. Pre-monsoon showers lashed several parts of Madhya Pradesh over a 24-hour period Thursday and Friday, an IMD official said, adding that rain accompanied by gusty winds is likely to occur in several parts of the state in the next 24 hours. Showers were experienced in some places in Shahdol, Ujjain and Indore divisions, and its is likely to rain in Shahdol, Rewa, Indore divisions besides some places in Jabalpur, Katni, Betul and Guna districts in the next 24 hours, the IMD official said.
