The BJP government in Uttar Pradesh and the party organisation complemented each other for the party's impressive bypoll wins in the state, with key leaders attributing the win to a combination of organisational outreach and government performance. While Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary credited the win to the policies and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister and his ministers didn't fail to return the compliment by recognising the contribution of the organization and the party's foot soldiers for the achievement. The BJP won six of the nine assembly seats while its ally RLD won one, with the opposition Samajwadi Party winning the remaining two. "I think there was hardly any seat, any booth that UP BJP general secretary (organization) Dharampal Singh didn't cover. In fact, he also took care of panna pramukhs," said Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, revealing how the BJP micro managed the
The 7-2 result in the bypolls to nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh in favour of the BJP reasserted Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's political authority in the state's politics, especially after the recent reverses in Lok Sabha polls. At the same time, the Congress not contesting and the BSP's yet another below-par show meant that despite losing ground, the Samajwadi Party continues to dominate the opposition space in the most populous state. The results were immaterial from the issue of the UP BJP government's stability and yet much pride was at stake, especially for the ruling party as the bypolls were the first electoral test of the BJP-led-NDA and INDIA bloc after the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in which the opposition had limited the BJP to its worst show in UP since 2014. The saffron party had won 33 seats, while the SP had emerged on top with 37 seats out of 80. In each of the seven assembly seats that the BJP won on Saturday, all the winning candidates were unanimous that ...

"The world is concerned; every person who has even a little positive feeling about the environment and the living world and its bright future in the country is concerned (about the environment)," he said, at an event organised to distribute appointment letters to 701 forest guards selected by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission. Global warming is a challenge for the whole world, but it has not come from anywhere else, he said, adding that it is a result of following the path of unplanned and unscientific development that man is facing it as a problem. "Somewhere there is excessive rain, and somewhere there is a 'heat wave'. Somewhere life is destroyed by floods, and somewhere people are yearning for a drop of water," Adityanath said. Congratulating the selected candidates, Yogi s

Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said providing jobs was not on the BJP government's agenda, and added that recruitment to government posts via outsourcing was an "economic conspiracy" against marginalised people. Yadav shared on social media platform X a newspaper clipping and an advertisement that said the posts of Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar, Revenue Inspector and Lekhpal were being filled through outsourcing. This was a move to snatch the constitutional right of job reservation, he said in a post on X. "It would be better if the BJP outsources the entire 'government' so that all its commissions come from one place. By doing this, the BJP will not have to take the great trouble of giving a small number of jobs while ending reservations under its pretext," he posted in Hindi. "We have always been saying, we are repeating it again today: jobs are not on the agenda of the BJP," he said. The SP chief further said outsourcing is an economic conspiracy against
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said the BJP and its allies have started to distance themselves from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's "Batoge toh katoge" slogan. Yadav termed the slogan -- given by Adityanath in a call apparently to Hindus to stay united -- as "unconstitutional" and the "most negative" in the history of the country. Addressing a gathering in the Bakshi Ka Talab area here, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said, "The chief minister's slogan is like the British's divide and rule policy. The British have left but people with their thinking are taking their ideas forward". "Batoge to katoge is the most negative and unconstitutional slogan in the country's history. The BJP leaders and its allies are distancing themselves from the slogan," he added. Taking a veiled jibe at Adityanath, the SP chief said without taking any names that one becomes a 'yogi' by one's thoughts and words, not clothes. He said the BJP knows that it is going to

He added, "Areas like Rajmahal and Sahibganj have become centres for illegal activities run by Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas. The JMM-led coalition leaders, who are their rahnuma' (protectors), will not be spared. Infiltrators will be expelled as soon as the NDA government is formed in Jharkhand." Addressing a poll rally at Rajmahal in Sahibganj, Adityanath urged the people to be wary of politicians who divide society along caste lines, calling them the "enemies of society and the country." The Uttar Pradesh
The NHRC on Saturday said it has issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and the state's police chief in connection with a fire at the children's ward of a medical college in Jhansi that claimed the lives of 10 newborns. We, the Samajwadi Party, will continue to protect the Constitution and our democracy," he added. Taking a jibe at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Yadav said, "Sadhus and saints speak less, but in 'kalyug' (the current age), they are speaking more."
