Global automotive components maker Advik on Tuesday said it will acquire German mechanical and hydraulic braking system manufacturer Powersports MTG for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition will create additional expertise for Advik in premium motorcycle safety components, which will also drive technologies in the large segment of ICE (internal combustion engine) and electric-powered commuter motorcycles and scooters, it said.
The buyout brings Advik into the list of advanced brake system suppliers, aligning with its growth trajectory, and would help the company establish its footprint in Europe, from where it can expand and service its customers at its doorstep, Advik said.
Besides, the acquisition will also expand its product range and customer base, said Advik, which is aiming to enhance the development of next-gen braking solutions.

The Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Rules will be refined further to connect children with technology while saving them from harms in the digital space, Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Tuesday.
While speaking to reporters, the minister said the rules will evolve based on the learning from their implementation.
"We will refine it (DPDP Rules) further to take the power of technology to children while saving them from many harm," Vaishnaw said.
The government issued draft DPDP Rules 2025 on January 3 and these are open for public consultation till February 18, 2024.
According to the draft rules, digital platforms can process data of a child only after taking consent from verifiable guardian or parents.
The verification can be done using voluntarily provided details of identity and age, or through a virtual token issued by an entity entrusted by law or by the Centre or state governments to maintain details of a person.

Punjab farmer leaders on Tuesday said if something untoward happens to Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is sitting on a fast-unto-death, then the Centre may not be able to handle the situation which could arise thereafter.
Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar stressed that the Centre should resolve the farmers' issues in a serious manner.
According to farmers, Dallewal's health is "deteriorating" each passing day and "anything can happen to him".
Dallewal, 70, who is the convener of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), has been on the indefinite hunger strike at the Khanauri border point between Punjab and Haryana since November 26 over farmers' various demands including a legal guarantee of the minimum support price for crops.
Dallewal, whose fast-unto-death entered 43rd day on Tuesday, has so far refused to take any medical aid.
Addressing the media, Dr Avtar Singh, who is part of a team from NGO '5 Rivers Heart Association' said Dallewal's health condition worsened on Monday evening.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday held vehicles used for ferrying drugs could only be confiscated after the conclusion of the case's trial when the accused was convicted or acquitted or discharged.
A bench comprising Justices Sanjay Karol and Manmohan passed the verdict and said there was no specific bar under the the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against the interim release of seized vehicles, provided the owner was not complicit in the offense.
"Upon a reading of the NDPS Act, this court is of the view that the seized vehicles can be confiscated," the bench said, "by the trial court only on conclusion of the trial when the accused is convicted or acquitted or discharged."
Further, even when the court decides the vehicle should be confiscated, it must give an opportunity to the person to be heard, it said.

In the absence of any specific bar under the NDPS Act, the courts could invoke the general power under the CrPC for return of the seized vehicle pending a final decision of the criminal case
