Daikin Industries, Osaka, a Japan-based global manufacturer of air conditioning and refrigeration systems, will set up a joint venture with Taiwan's Rechi Precision to manufacture compressors in India at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.
Daikin through its local subsidiary, Daikin Airconditioning India and Rechi Precision, announced setting up a JV to "manufacture, design and sale rotary compressors for inverter & non-inverter ACs in India and some overseas markets, according to a joint statement.
Though the company has not announced the investment, it said Daikin will be the majority partner in the JV.
According to industry insiders, around Rs 1,000 crore will be invested in the JV in the next 5-6 years.
"The joint venture is expected to become operational by the 4th quarter of FY24-25. The manufacturing facility shall be established at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh," it said.

Underlining that the ongoing conflict in the international arena has revealed the "hazards of a hybrid warfare", a parliamentary panel has recommend that the DRDO should expand its R&D efforts to enhance combat readiness against any non-conventional warfare and security threats.

UK&amp;#39;s political crisis

In September, 22-year-old Iranian girl Mahsa Amini died after being detained for allegedly violating Iran&amp;#39;s laws requiring women to wear a headscarf. Authorities said she died of illness, but her family claimed she fell into a coma after being mistreated by the police. Sources said the police beat Amini with a baton and banged her head against a vehicle. At her funeral on September 17 in Saqez, women protested by ripping off their hijabs. Protests sparked by her demise have since roped in ethnic minorities and even school children. Thousands of women since then have been showing solidarity by cutting their hair and burning their hijabs in public.
						
						Now, the unrest has spread beyond a women&amp;#39;s right to a movement that is calling for an end to theocratic rule. The protests are now the most broadly supported movement in Iran in over four decades.
