A Canadian pension fund arm on Tuesday announced that it has co-led in a USD 180 million funding round in Indian supply chain finance platform Mintifi.
Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan's arm Teachers' Venture Growth and South Africa's Prosus have co-led the Series E investment into the city-based Mintifi, as per a statement.
Premji Invest also participated in the funding round, which includes both primary and secondary transactions, the statement said.
Canadian investors, especially pension funds, have been present in India for many years and have backed a slew of entities and projects for handsome returns.
The fresh funding will deepen the company's presence across key sectors and consolidate its market leadership in the downstream supply chain financing space, it said.

About 1.8 crore students from state-funded higher education institutions, including universities and IITs, will have access to research papers published in top journals across the world from January 1 as part of the government's 'One Nation, One Subscription' initiative.
Addressing a press conference, the government's Principal Scientific Advisor AK Sood said more than 13,400 international journals covering science, technology, engineering, medicine, mathematics, management, social sciences and humanities would be made available to researchers under the 'One Nation, One Subscription' (ONOS) initiative's first phase.
Under the initiative, 451 state public universities, 4,864 colleges and 172 institutes of national importance will be among the 6,380 higher education and research institutes that will have access to top journals published by 30 publishers, including Elsevier, Springer Nature, and Wiley.

In September, 22-year-old Iranian girl Mahsa Amini died after being detained for allegedly violating Iran&amp;#39;s laws requiring women to wear a headscarf. Authorities said she died of illness, but her family claimed she fell into a coma after being mistreated by the police. Sources said the police beat Amini with a baton and banged her head against a vehicle. At her funeral on September 17 in Saqez, women protested by ripping off their hijabs. Protests sparked by her demise have since roped in ethnic minorities and even school children. Thousands of women since then have been showing solidarity by cutting their hair and burning their hijabs in public.
						
						Now, the unrest has spread beyond a women&amp;#39;s right to a movement that is calling for an end to theocratic rule. The protests are now the most broadly supported movement in Iran in over four decades.
