NDA will need more allies, predicts poll

However, the alliance is close to the halfway mark if the Lok Sabha elections are held today

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance is likely to win between 212 and 232 seats and United Progressive Alliance 119-139 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, a poll survey has claimed.

The CNN-IBN-Lokniti-CSDS national election tracker projected that the BJP on its own is likely to secure between 193 and 213 seats and the Congress will end up with 94-110 seats.
 
The survey also predicted Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress to emerge as the third single largest party with 20-28 seats while giving 15-23 seats to the Left parties.

J Jayalalithaa's AIADMK is likely to get between 14 and 20 seats if the general elections are held today, the survey projected.

According to the survey, the BJP and its allies together (NDA) are expected to get 36% votes and the Congress and its allies are projected to get 29% votes nationally.
 
The saffron party is likely to win between 63 to 79 seats out of 120 seats in the key Hindi heartland states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The survey said that BJP may win between 22 to 30 seats in Bihar while in UP, it is likely to bag 41 to 49 seats. 
 
The BJP’s arch rival Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) is likely to get only 4-8 seats.

The Arivind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party is projected to end up between one and five seats only.
 
Of 42 Lok Sabha seats in the undivided Andhra Pradesh, the poll has projected 11 to 17 seats for the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress, 10 to 16 seats for Telugu Desam Party, six to 12 seats for Congress, and six to 12 seats for Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
