Silver prices were up by Rs 168 to Rs 37,737 per kg in futures trade today after participants raised their bets amid firming global trends.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May was up by Rs 168 or 0.45% to Rs 37,737 per kg in a business turnover of 347 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in far-month July traded higher by Rs 153 or 0.40% to Rs 38,127 per kg in business volume of just one lot.

Analysts attributed the rise in silver prices at futures trade to a firming trend in the precious metal overseas as dollar's safe-haven appeal weakened while china said it will boost efforts to mend the economy.

Globally, silver traded 0.77% higher at $15.63 an ounce in New York yesterday.
