AAP demands resignation of MP Governor, CM over Vyapam scam

The party also called for a CBI probe into the irregularities in admissions through Dental and Medical Admission Test

Press Trust of India Bhopal
Demanding resignations of Governor Ram Naresh Yadav and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over Vyapam and DMAT scams, Aam Aadmi Party today called for a CBI probe into the irregularities in admissions through Dental and Medical Admission Test (DMAT).

The Dental and Medical Admission Test (DMAT) to be held on July 12 was cancelled by Association of Private Dental and Medical Colleges (APDMC) a day after MP High Court ordered it to scan the OMR answer sheets of each candidate who will take the test.

Addressing a press meet, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said serious irregularities had taken place in DMAT examinations as well where beneficiaries were "high and mighty people" of the country.

"Vyapam is the biggest scam in the country, even bigger than NRHM scam in Uttar Pradesh. It is a 'khooni' (bloody) scam that has so far claimed 48 lives. Along with Vyapam, the DMAT scam should also be handed over to CBI," AAP National Leader Sanjay Singh demanded told a press conference here.

The chief minister should stop treating himself as "victim" in the entire matter as he had failed to act when so many people died and despite the fact that he holds the health portfolio, he should have recommended for a CBI probe into it, Singh said.

The AAP leader said Chouhan had sought a CBI probe only when he came to know that Supreme Court may order it.

"It was clear that the Governor was accused number 10 in the Vyapam scam and chief minister's former personal secretary was also a key accused. Details of call records of Chouhan's official residence were also available," he said.

"In such a situation, the Centre should dismiss Governor from his post and Chouhan should resign in order to ensure a fair probe," Singh further said.

The leader alleged though STF, which is probing the case, has arrested nearly 2000 people in the scam, it has not touched big fishes.

AAP workers also staged a protest and took out a rally from state party office here today.

He said AAP will hold similar protests on the issue at many parts of the country today and they will take the matter to villages. AAP MPs will raise the matter in Parliament as well, he added.

State AAP unit chief Alok Agrawal and Delhi coordinator Dilip Pandey among others were also present at the conference.
