Silver prices spurted by Rs 140 to Rs 40,785 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up positions amid a higher global trend.
In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month July was trading higher by Rs 140, or 0.31%, to Rs 40,785 per kg in a business turnover of 70 lots.

Also, the white metal for delivery in May was up by Rs 121, or 0.30%, to Rs 40,106 per kg in 576 lots.
Analysts said speculators created fresh positions in tune with higher global trend which influenced silver futures prices here.
Meanwhile, silver rose 0.12% to $16.97 an ounce in Singapore today.
